Sephora??

I'll be the first to admit I'm make-up challenged.  I need to find a few things and have been told that Sephora might be my best bet.

Anyone know if one of these has a better selection thane others: Memorial City, Sugar Land, Baybrook.

I want to try and do this in one stop with trips to Macy's if I need to find MAC or Origins and fill ins.

I'm surprised the Galleria doesn't have a Sephora store; or was my googling incorrect?

Re: Sephora??

  • There is one in the Galleria, or at least there was last time I was there (a few months ago).  I doubt they'd close that one.  It's near the MAC store, either up or down a level, I forget.

  • There is definitely one in The Galleria... I will say that it was a bit smaller than the one I'm used to shopping at in The Woodlands.

In my personal opinion... Ulta has a better selection than Sephora.

  • I could have sworn I saw one when i was there last week.

  • There's a Sephora in the Galleria. It's on the 2nd floor near Tory Burch between the rink and the elevators. I still think the Memorial City store is the best -- in the case of Macy's too.

  • I was just at the store in the Galleria a few weeks ago.

  • I think if you really want good help picking out the best makeup for yourself, you should avoid Sephora. Go to a good department store's make up department, like Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. They sell largely the same brands as Sephora (except S's store brand), which sell at MSRP so the prices are the same. You won't be jockeying for position amongst a bunch of teenagers and someone can really help you.

  • Thanks for the idea rayskit.  I might try that too.
  • If you don't want to deal with the mall, MAC, Sephora and Origins are all in Rice Village on Times.

  • I definitely agree with going to a department store makeup counter. I went to Prescriptives (when it still existed) and had someone help me select some makeup. They kept a little card, and she remembered me when I came back later for some other stuff.

ulta carries covergirl, neutrogena, and "drugstore" cosmetic brands in addition to some of the higher end lines.

sephora carries mostly "better" cosmetics... they have nars, clinique, l'occitane, and IMO a lot more where "better" makeup is concerned.  for me, ulta is definitely a step down from sephora.

  • My cousin (distant/by marriage) is the Store Director of the galleria location.

She said at Thanksgiving that she can get me free samples of all kinds of stuff, or even overstock items.  I'm so fancy-makeup challenged that I didn't even know what to ask for. Embarrassed

Almond, if you want to go to Sephora, do you want me to ask my cousin who she'd recommend you meet with at her store that is experienced in selecting makeup for your particular skin type/shade?  I wouldn't mind going with you either.  I need some sexy eye makeup and my covergirl/mabelline/revlon just isn't cutting it for me anymore.
