After I was laid off from Wells Fargo, I got a temp job at CitiMortgage. The entire company moved in May to a different location 40 minutes from where we were. They were not approved to take temps along but somehow managed to get me approved; out of 15 temps at the old location, I was the only temp selected to go. I've been working here for over 6 months, working in the new location for 2 1/2 months (spending $300/mo in gas now mind you), and I finally got an interview for a permanent position a little over 2 weeks ago (they have 4 positions to fill). My boss unofficially told me that she submitted me for hire and that it just had to be processed by upper management and HR...great news...except that I still haven't heard anything. I was the very first person for interview yet she just walked around a new hire introducing her to everyone. When she stopped at my desk she asked me if I had gotten a call from HR yet which I haven't. I know my chances of getting hired are like 99.9% in favor of it, but I'm just getting frustrated waiting.
I know 2 weeks doesn't seem like a long time, but it is when every couple days one of my other co-workers asks me if I have heard anything, same goes with my family and DH. It just stinks because as a temp I don't get any paid time off, so for instance, I am taking a half day next Tuesday but can't afford to lose the money so I am working an extra hour the other 4 days of the week to make up the time. But if I were already hired, I'd have all kinds of paid time off I could use. Grrrr, just let me know one way or the other...I hate this waiting game.

So, anything you need to vent about?

Re: Im getting frustrated
Your'e definitely a lot more patient then me. I was a temp 2 years ago at the job I'm at now. They said it was a full time position and I would be hired in 6 months. I waited out the 6 months and....nothing. I went and talked to HR and she said I don't know what gave you the impression that we would hire you in 6 months. I said well...that is what my temp agency said. She asked if I had a valid reason to get hired now instead of 6 months down the road. I told her finances which was true. So she got me on a month later. But if was sooo frusturating.
You're a trooper with the driving. I would hate that so much. Hang in there!

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermBummer. I'm sorry you're having to wait, but it almost goes with the territory of working for a large company. I know at my company, there are guidelines around when jobs can be posted, when someone can be hired, etc. So maybe that's the hold up. Or maybe since it's such a big company, there are just a lot of processes to go through.
Either way, I hope you hear soon. And tell people to quit asking...haha!
