Project Runway

Yes, I am totally PWing right now :)

Anyone else planning to watch tonight?

I love Bert. His story really touched me and I just want for him to succeed.

I call BS on Anya's claim that she has only sewn for 4 months (and I HOPE they don't keep mentioning it over and over and over like they did last week).  Besides, I didn't think her pants fit that well last week--it had all that weird "bunching" in the crotch when the model walked.

Re: Project Runway

  • I agree  with you about Burt/Bert (sp?)

I am not sure about Anya.   She is a meticulous person who obviously knows clothing and how it should fit.  That could go a long way, especially if she has been paying attention to the input from the people who have been constructing her designs.

They made a big deal about how great the back of her pants were, but there was definitely something wrong there.  As for the bunching crotch....I think I have only seen two pairs of pants fit properly in all of the years of PW.  They always have weird bunching crotches, or they pull across the front.   It's a big peeve of mine, but honestly, it is hard to find pants that do fit properly anymore, without spending big bucks.

I guess I expect that if the pants are being custom made to fit the model's body that they should fit properly!  Especially considering the models are little sticks without many of the "curves" that I personally have Wink

They don't really have much time with the models, and they have a card with measurements that may or may not be accurate.  My guess is not.  Who knows if they get enough measurements to make true custom patterns.

I think this is why most of them don't make pants.lol

  • I am totally not a fashionista at all and I love this show.

I record it and watch the next day.  can't tget the hubby on board LOL

I usually have to watch it the next day too--it competes with Burn Notice which is DH's favorite show.  He puts up with a lot of my tv, so I "give" him this one :)

  • I'm so happy it's back! LOVE Bert. I actually really like Anja so far- I am a sucker for accents (and I don't believe the whole "I don't know how to sew!" thing for a second). I love Olivier, too- he's adorable.

AND- Joshua absolutely blows my mind. Dude, you are NOT looking for a woman. And you're probably the only person that doesn't know it! I want him to stay on the show (regardless of the horrible creations- ugh) so that he can be amongst people who can help him feel safe enough to be himself.

And so I can say, "in the closet!" every time Heidi says "Joshua, you are...".

  • Woohoo! Can't wait.

I wasn't really impressed with any of them. They just weren't my style, so I couldn't get behind them.

I like Anthony Ryan, though, from Louisiana. I don't know why, I think he is likeable.. I guess his design was the one I could get most behind.

Lifetime  puts up the episodes to watch after they air.  I don't know how long after they air.  But the back seasons aren't on netflix or hulu Crying

  • Laura Kathleen actually graduated from the college I went to and work at.  Not that I'm thrilled to say so, she did kind of put us down in the lead up episode.  We are a great college, but how many colleges are know for their fashion programs?

I've only watched the first episode, H hates it, but so far Bert is my fav!

I will agree with you all that I don't believe Anya just learned how to sew, it's one thing to learn to sew well in 4 months, it's a completely different thing to learn how to sew well as well as make complicated patterns after 4 months.

You guys didn't like the way her pants fit?  I love a gigantic bubble right in my crotch!

I just watched last weeks show again, and all of the shorts and pants fit badly.  Even the ones that were too tight had weird crotch bubbles, and if they didn't, they were the knit leggings that were just scary.

There were actually quite a few weird things going on with Anja's pants...even with the back that everyone gushed over.  The design was pretty good, and the fit was close, but there were obvious not so great things happening with the waistband and general construction.  I think she just lucked out that her model and the mannequin had the same butt.lol

Thanks! There are two episodes up, but they'll have to wait until later. My baby shower is tomorrow afternoon at my house and it is NOT company-ready. Lots to do!
