Re: anyone with experience http://www.speechenrichmentcenter.com

  • I don't have any experience with them but I have a small frustrating amount of experience with speech therapy and insurance.

Is this for speech?   If so, how old your son is?  What company is your insurance through?

Our story is my son started with sudden onset stuttering in April and it was getting pretty bad.  We think it may have been caused by a fall he had from some playground equipment but can't confirm it without putting him under anesthesia for an MRI (long story).

Anyway, we had United Health Care at the time.  Our policy shows 20 sessions of speech therapy a year at a $25 co-pay.  What they fail to write out on the benefits is that they will only cover speech for "medical" reasons (our therapist said that autism and down syndrome are what they consider medical).

What I've been reading is that a lot of insurance companies will not cover what is considered "developmental delays" for children under certain ages because before 3 they can get therapy through ECI and after 3 the can get therapy through the public schools.

If you aren't dealing with that, sorry you had to read my long story!  Big Smile
