WWMNWear?

I'm attending a wedding in September and the reception is here.

The reception is from 9-12, which says formal to me, but the invitations were formatted and addressed informally.

I was thinking of this dress (the yellow):

But I worry that it's too formal for the invitations/location.

Or this one:

which I worry is not formal enough for the time. (The skirts on both hit just above the knee)

  • They have coupons on their website, which leads me to believe it's not a super formal place. I think both dresses are appropriate and very pretty.

Totally agree. We went to a wedding recently that I was under the impression was going to be formal and found out the day before by talking to a friend who had spoke with the bride that her version of formal was " a sun dress and wedges" so I had to change outfits last minute but I'm so glad a went the less formal but still dressy and appropriate route.

And I love love love the green one!

  • They have coupons, happy hour and a kid's menu.  I wouldn't assume anything is formal.  I think both dresses are pretty and would be fitting for the wedding.  I personally prefer the green dress.

  • I prefer the green one, but agree that either would be fine.

Will you have a car there that you can keep a bag in?  Your accessories can totally dress you up or down, so you could always go with a more formal look, but have some more casual shoes and jewelry in the car to swap if you feel totally out of place.

  • I did thought the same thing when I was invited to a wedding that was "formal" only to find out that the bridesmaids were wearing flip flops as their shoes.

I love the green dress however, I am a little bit bias since that was the color I used in my wedding. Big Smile

  • Thanks for the input :) Now I just have to make sure the green dress still fits!

  • Another vote for the green dress. It looks gorgeous on you! I think the yellow one would also work, though.
