Who has eaten at Bilbo Baggins?

I think we are going to try it on Sunday (not for brunch though) with some friends who live in VA.  What do you usually order?

=) thanks

Re: Who has eaten at Bilbo Baggins?

  • We went there for a beer tasting last winter.  I seem to recall that their flatbread pizza was pretty good (although I was also a little tipsy at the time).

  • No usual order, but everything we've had there has been tasty.  It's not like knock your socks off good, but just straightforward real food.  I don't think you can go wrong there.
  • the Maui chicken fingers appetizer is amazing!

  • No  Sorry.  I've been several times and have been disappointed.
  • I used to love Bilbo Baggins, but the last two times I've gone have been really disappointing.  It's been a year or so since my last visit, so hopefully that situation has improved.
  • We've been once and the service was horrible, but apparently one of the server quit. Which is a lame excuse... get a gc from restaurant.com!!
  • Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about less-than-great experiences recently. We had our wedding RD there five years ago and the food was better than at our wedding.  If I recall, we did steak and a pecan-crusted chicken, but I don't see either of those on the menu now.

  • Good call on restaurant.com we have 6 people going so a $50 certificate for $25 will def cut down on the bill.
  • When DH and I lived in Alexandria, we went there occasionally because they usually had pretty decent beer. The food was all right - not fabulous but it's not like you need to avoid it. We went there on three Christmas Eves in a row because it was the only place open past 6 or 7 and had Rogue Yellow Snow IPA on tap. I kind of miss that tradition.

  • Everyone got their three beer sampler I think

I got some milky way martini that was awesome!

DH and I tried 4 different items from the appetizer/tapas menu

I liked the duck spring rolls the best

we tried the cilantro fries and they were ok, I like garlic fries better at say Gordon Biersch

We tried the Bilbo burger which ended up coming with fries oops.  The burger was just ok

We tried the Maui chicken fingers but they were over cooked.

The service was actually good which I was surprised given the reviews on yelp!

    I'm glad we went.

I have a new ice cream love: red velvet cake ice cream at Pops old fashioned ice cream place.  It had hunks of cake in it.  We grabbed ice cream and walked to to the waterfront to eat it.  I'm glad it stopped raining for dessert : )

  • DH and I love it there, but the last time we went, the service was terrible!  But we have always loved the food (I usually get some sort of salmon) and the raisin bread that they make is awesome!
