Any suggestions for curtains in Brussels?
I've been here a week, and in desperate need of curtains. Any suggestions on places to shop? We've already been to IKEA, but we need shorter curtains, approx. 137cm, because we have radiators below all our windows. In pictures, and houses we looked at prior to the one we chose, all had short sheers covering all the windows, and then nicer curtains to draw open/close. Help!
TIA

Re: Any suggestions for curtains in Brussels?
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but here's a link to some stores in Brussels that carry curtains and other soft furnishings.

Are you crafty at all? If you found curtains you like at Ikea, would you be willing to shorten them yourself?
Thanks! I had come up with a similar list, plus a few others, a few close by.....just wondering if there were any recommendations. I have two tiny girls and dragging them around curtain shopping does not sound appealing. Shopping at Carrefour is enough with the two of them.
Semi-crafty.....I guess crafty enough to cut and put a new straight line hem in (I was even considering making my own, but wouldn't you know it, the two fabrics I liked at IKEA were sold out).....but my sewing machine is on a boat at the moment. If I could at least find the sheers for now, I can do something more decorative when the sewing machine arrives.

My mom made some gorgeous sheers for her kitchen. She hemmed them by hand with clear fishing line. All she did was iron the bottom hem to the width she wanted, and sewed about 1/8th inch below the rough edge.
I *think* it took her 45 minutes to iron and hem four long panels.
I used to live close to the Belgian border so I visited the country fairly often (sometimes by accident lol) and I swear Belgium is THE place for curtain fanatics. I am pretty sure you won't have any troubles finding curtains.
