Question for the nurses

So I'm pretty sure I have a bad earwax buildup in my right ear (gross, I know).  I had this a few years ago and it feels the same.  I've been using some over the counter ear wax removal drops for 2 days now and it seems to be loosening, but it's definitely still there.  I tried to go to the doctor today, but I was late and they wouldn't see me :(  I don't think I can get out of work to try again.  How long can I let this go?  The drops say not to use for more than 4 days, so I'm going to try them tonight and tomorrow again.  I have some pain, but not too bad, but I can feel a lot of pressure like something is sitting on my ear drum or something and I can barely hear out of that ear.  TIA!

Re: Question for the nurses

  • If it is on your eardrum, the drops won't get the wax out - an ENT has to remove it. Also, don't overuse the drops. Many ENTs say not to use them at all.

Sorry, that is not what you wanted to hear, but you need to see an ear doc.
