How long did it take to heal after your wisdom teeth were removed? How was the pain? What foods did you end up eating while it was healing?
I just had my wisdom tooth pulled (as in, my mouth is still numb from it). I knew it would need to come out eventually, since it started poking through my gum around Christmas, but I was at the dentist for my routine cleaning this afternoon and he said "How about right now?" Surprise! So I did. It took longer to numb my jaw than to pull the tooth. Good news is I only had 1 wisdom tooth.
Re: wisdom teeth ladies
Yours was pulled in house? Man - I had to see an oral surgeon for mine, and all four were yanked at once.
It took about 10 days for mine to fully heal [I only had to take meds the first two days; after that, they didn't really hurt any more, but I had to watch what I ate], but I bet you won't take that long. That's awesome you only had one - I'm jealous.
Mashed potatoes and peach cream slushes from Sonic. I ate that for the first day. I then attempted a very tender piece of grilled chicken the next day, STUPID!
I had 3 cut out by an oral surgeon. I was back to every day foods within a week and the soreness was gone within 3 or 4 days, I just had them done 2 years ago I think.
I had mine taken out two weeks ago today by an oral surgeon. I had slight swelling the day of the surgery, and none after. My mouth didn't hurt much at all the first two days, then was a little achy for about a week, but nothing major. I ate mashed potatoes and ice cream the day of, and have eaten "normal" foods since (but avoiding things like tortilla chips and chewing gum).

Only one wisdom tooth? Lucky! Was it on the top or the bottom?
I had mine taken out when I was in 9th grade and they were impacted. That was probably the worst surgery I have ever been through. About a month afterwards, I was in California visiting relatives and got a horrible infection complete with an abscess and dry sockets. I wasn't allowed to fly home because they were afraid of the abscess rupturing.
That being said I used to work for an oral surgeon and have seen people breeze through the surgery. Do you have an stitches? Some good things to eat are mashed potatoes, ice cream, jello, scrambled eggs, applesauce, bananas, oatmeal, baked potatoes, yogurt, and soups.
Hope you're not numb too long and the pain is minimal!
I'm doing fine, thanks for asking! Just a little bit of occasional discomfort, but no pain. I ate somewhat soft foods the night it was pulled (fish and mushy overcooked vegetables), but other than that I've been able to eat a normal diet as long as I remember to chew on the other side of my mouth. Seems like I lucked out!
