recommend a double stroller....

we are looking to buy a double stroller just not sure which are better, the tandem style ones or the side by side? What double stroller do you have and do you like it? TIA

Re: recommend a double stroller....

  • We have a sit-n-stand, a tandem-style double stroller, and have removed the back seat by now as Shannon prefers to walk most of the time -- http://tinyurl.com/3cwp4tc

I know others have disliked it, but we really haven't had a problem with it. The only problem I've really experienced is finagling it into my trunk when the sun shade is on the front seat. I don't think it would have fit in my car, but it does fit in the trunk of the truck. I can get through narrow aisles in stores, and don't find it all that difficult to turn.

I recommend trying out different styles in the store, or even better, test-driving a friend's double stroller. See what you like or don't about the different kinds. And, make sure that the folded dimensions of the stroller will fit in your trunk! :)

  • We're still debating the double stroller, but when I was looking for recommendations everyone and their mom suggested the City Mini Double.  I've heard really great things!
  • That is what I have been told too the city mini double is perfect but I'm not sure about the whole side by side and getting thru store doorways and or sidewalks with it. DD # 1 just turned 3 a few months ago but going out with her and letting her walk she sometimes wants to wander off and touch things so we prefer to keep her in the stroller or sometimes she just gets tired of walking so she wants to ride in the stroller.  I liked the ones that you can use as a single or double but those are too much $$$ for us to be spending.  I need to find one so we can start going for walks, etc.
  • Anything by Phil and Ted. I did not want side-by-side at all. they just looik so big to me. I got the P&T b/c of it versatility. I got it on craigslist so I paid less than half.

  • I had a Graco tandem style (front/back) but hated it.  It was really heavy and a pain to put in the car and maneuver.  I gave it away and got a Peg Perego Aria Twin off Craigslist last summer.  I got it for $60 instead of the $350 retail and it is in great condition.  It folds almost completely flat and weighs only 10-15 pounds. It is a side by side and fits through almost any doorway and maneuvers well, plus no one fights about being in the front.  When we went to Disney it was amazing because it folded in a snap and you could pick it up with one hand and it fit easily in any space on the bus.
  • I have the City Mini Double and love it.  There hasn't been a doorway yet that i haven't been able to get through and I've never had a problem on a sidewalk either.  I do sometimes have trouble getting through narrow aisles at clothing stores but standard aisles like at Target/supermarket are not a problem.  It folds easily and is really compact and the steering is amazing.

  • I also have the City mini Double and it's been great. I'm usually on my own during the week so I wanted something that folded easily and this one is super easy. I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old and they both seem to like it. Sometimes it's a little difficult to turn corners but otherwise great
  • I have the BOB Duallie and I love it.  Fits through every door and every narrow side walk. Turns on a dime.
