Re: starlet
To bring her in for bloodwork. She also recommended warming up the food a bit so Winky would be more enticed by the smell. She ate a decent amount yesterday when I did that, so I'm going to hold off on taking her to the vet right now.
She seems to be happy and content right now, so I'm just taking it a day at a time.
What I do have to do though, is get her to a groomer's. They think she has arthritis because she's so old and she is covered in hair mats because she doesn't want to bend into weird positions to clean herself. The vet said hair mats for cats are like when we leave our hair in a tight ponytail all day and it starts to hurt, so I want to get that taken care of.
Are you getting her shaved or just getting the mats cut out? I love shaved cats. I don't know why, but I find them hilarious.
I want all of her shaved except her head, around her paws and the tip of her tail.
Unfortunately, she has really bad dandruff (probably because of the kidneys), so I'm not sure how cute she'll look!
awww... poor kitty. i'm glad she's eating a little more with the food warmed.
we have had to take two of our cats to the groomer's (unfortunately they are having some weight issues that prevent them from reaching certain spots). we didn't like the first person we took her to but then we found another amazing groomer and we've been very happy. we have one long haired cat and the rest are short-haired. i've always wanted to get iowa a lion cut but mostly just for me, there's really no reason, so i've resisted. but if i had a cat with the issues you describe i'd definitely shave it all.
good luck and keep us posted!
We get my Gizmo a lion cut every spring because of his allergies and hairballs. Sometimes twice a year. He actually loves it, and they usually wash him so it gets rid of his dandruff. He has a lot less issues when his hair is short
Hope it helps!
