In shock- T & P's needed
I went to go see a movie with one of my girlfriends tonight. At one point during the movie when I glanced at my phone and saw that in 30 minutes I had 3 missed calls from my mom and one from Cris, I knew something was very wrong. My sister in law (step brother's wife) died today.
We're all in complete shock. I guess she had been complaining about some swelling and pain in her ankle about 1 1/2 weeks ago. They did a few tests, put it in a boot (thinking she must have hurt it) and sent her home. Today when she was at work, a blood clot went to her heart. She was 33 yrs old & the most wonderful person you could ever be lucky enough to know.
They have 2 little girls (1 1/2 & 5) and the youngest has Spina Bifida. My SIL made a lot more money than my step brother and his job doesn't have benefits. They were all on her insurance. I guess there must be some programs for the youngest to cover her therapy...I just don't know what he's going to do. Luckily his mom and her parents are close by, but my heart is completely broken for him and my 2 nieces. The oldest starts kindergarten next Monday. I don't know what's worse, a baby who won't remember her mom, or a 5 yr old who is going to have her whole world ripped out from under her.
I know they'll have a special angel looking over them, but please keep them in your T & P's. It's so senseless.

Oh my gosh! I don't even know what to say. What a horrible and unexpected tragedy. =( Keeping your whole family, especially those two little girls, in my thoughts and prayers.
Please let us know if there's anything we can do, or if there will be some kind of fund set up accepting donations.
This is truly tragic. How heartbreaking! I will be keeping the girls and all of your family in my thoughts and prayers.
I hope you are right that there are organizations to help him care for his daughter, and praying that she had some life insurance. And on Madisen's note -- I would love to donate something if they set up some kind of fund for them.
Thank you both so much. I'll know more once my mom gets up there. My mom thinks my brother may have a malpractice suit on his hands, but I don't know if or when this will be addressed. It's obviously a sensitive time and situation.
My SIL had called my mom (mom's a nurse practitioner) when her ankle started bothering her & my mom is the one who encouraged her to go to the Dr to rule out something serious like a blood clot. Between my SIL's symptoms, being young, on birth control (and several other meds that could have put her at a higher risk) & the fact that she couldn't recall actually hurting her ankle, my mom's intital thoughts were a blood clot.
I'm not sure which tests they ran on her, but I know that for whatever reason they didn't do an MRI & my mom wasn't very happy about that. This is weighing very heavy on her so I'm sure when the time is right she may approach the subject with my brother. I'll keep you guys updated.
Thank you all so much!
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

OMG that is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for your family's loss.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do.
T&P to you and your step brother and the whole family. That is absolutely terrible.
*Hugs*
I am so sorry! What a sad situation. No girl should ever have to lose her mother at that age, and certainly not so unexpectedly. I'm crying just thinking about it! I know nothing can make it better, but we'll be praying for you guys too.
On another note, I was going to say something about a lawsuit, so I'm glad someone's thinking of that already.
"My 101 List - Updating asap, I swear!
omg, how heartbreaking. I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Let's try this again...
