Tell me this was a good idea

I've wanted a Dyson for, oh, 5 years. I got a bonus at work and decided I was going to buy a Dyson. I just looked on Sears and they had the Dyson 25 animal ball for $417, so I jumped on it. Now I'm having buyers remorse. I'm freaked that I spent that much money. And, the negative reviews say it is all hype and not that great of a vacuum. Of course, the overall rating is 4.5, and everyone (almost everyone) here loves their.

This was also a personal splurge, but I'm not making us broke by buying it. I am just generally very frugal. :)

Re: Tell me this was a good idea

  • Trust me- the second you start using it, you will realize that it really was a FABULOUS idea.  ^_^  You sound a lot like me in terms of what freaks you out financially ("Spending money on something to make my life easier when I could have put it into savings?  WASTE!") so I totally get the buyer's remorse- but seriously, VERY.  GOOD.  IDEA.  I friggin' love my Dyson- and the time and effort it saves you (plus the satisfaction of a well-cleaned floor) will MORE than make up for the sticker-shock.
  • Our Dyson is amazing. You will never regret it, and you will not understand how other people can live without one when you see how well it works :)
  • I love my Dyson! My SIL loves hers too! Great Investment! I have 4-legged children so it picks up great after them!
  • I gagged a little when we bought our Dyson, but with 2 dogs, a cat, and living in a dust bowl (Arizona desert), it's been a godsend!!  Having used it for the past 2 years with NO problems (longest I had a "cheap" vacuum before was less than a year w/ all sorts of issues), I would never think twice about making the leap again.  If my Dyson died tomorrow, I'd do whatever I had to and save for another one!  LOVE it!  You can buy several cheap ones and replace when broken, or you can buy a nice one that will last AND clean better. :)

  • I've been wanting a dyson forever too... Sounds like a great idea to me.

  • I would get a Dyson if I didn't already have, and if they didn't exist, a Rainbow. Yea, they are expensive but there is no chance of odors, dust, fleas, etc. escaping into the air.  And if you accidentally suck something up when you dump it (I dump mine outside where I want to block weeds or under a bush) you will see it. It's also cleaner than dumping a dusty, dirty container into the trash. I never regretted getting my Rainbow.
  • Oh, I forgot, I'm about as cheap as they come too!

  • I have had mine for over 8 years and we still love it. I'm actually waiting for it to die so I can get one of the newer, shiner versions. Before this vacuum, we were replacing our cheaper versions every year. This paid for itself on year 4 so we recommend them to everyone.

  • Nope, you didn't spend too much. It's a smart buy! I've never had a problem with mine!
I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.
