rise of the planet of the apes (no spoilers)

This was surprisingly good- the CGI was done very well and gave the apes a lot of emotion. From the previews, I expected it would be primarily a battle between apes and humans, but it was a lot more about the cause of the apes' intelligence, and the first smart ape. It was much much much much better than the 2001 Tim Burton crap-fest, and better than a lot of this summer's movies.

I really enjoyed it, and recommend it.

  • I've read only good things about it.  I will definitely go check it out.

Is it gory/super scary?   That doesn't seemed to be addressed anywhere.

  • Not gory at all, maybe some parts could be scary to kids.
  • I've never watched any of the other Apes movies but I really liked this one. James Franco is a great actor and did a fantastic job. It wasn't gory or scary at all, there were kids in the theater we were in and they seemed to enjoy the movie.

  • There was a really good write up about it on CNN today...I totally want to see it now!
  • I'm glad to hear this because DH wants to see it and I was expecting it to suck.

I would tell anyone to go see it, and James Franco was looking good!
