Modified bed rest (possible tmi)

SUX!!

I had bleeding this past weekend.  This past Monday when I went to the doctors  they found a few issues.  I have a low lying placenta which is covering about 50% of my cervix.  The doc thinks it will correct itself as baby grows and did not seem terribly concerned with it.

In addition, I have a separation in the placenta and uterus.  He was not happy when he saw that and seemed really concerned.  For that, I am on modified bed rest.  Can't lift more than 5 lbs.  With an 11 month old, that is near impossible.  Can't do stairs, no sexy time, stay off my feet as much as possible. He cannot even give me a clue as to how long this will last.  He said it could get better, could stay the same and it could even get worse.  It is not really in my control.

My Mom has been staying with us because I can't take care of LB by myself.  However, she starts school in early September.  If this continues, not sure what I am going to do.  I am sad because I just want to hold my little girl again.

Have any of you Momma's had either of these issues??

  • Ugh. So sorry, hon. I hope things get better- and easier.
  • A friend of mine had to do bedrest early in her pregnancy because of an issue with the placenta.  It corrected itself after a few weeks and she had no other problems the entire pregnancy.  Hopefully that will be the case for you as well.

I know it's hard to not stress out right now, but try to follow doctor's orders as much as possible and rest.  And get in lots of snuggle time with LB while you're off your feet, to try to feel better about not being able to pick her up.  ((hugs))

  • Good luck..  Can you hire anyone to help you during the week once school starts for your mom?

I have been on modified lifting since May with physical therapy 2-3x a week for pinched nerve caused at work and then sciatic pains, not lifting him is impossible as I am home alone often. I just try and keep it to a minimum (again easier said then done).

I remember the stories of your MIL but can she help at all?

  • oh no! I'm so sorry! Trust me bed rest is no fun but you do it for that amazing little one you're carrying. Hopefully it will correct itself soon and you can be up and about again :)
  • no advice, but take it easy and keeping fingers crossed for a short lived bed rest.

  • My Mom had that exactly when she was pregnant with my sister. I think the low lying placenta corrected itself on it's own, but it was the placenta seperating that gave her a ton of issues during her pregnancy. She was on and off bedrest the entire time and had a lot of bleeding. It was kind of a rough pregnancy for her. I was about a year old at the time and she needed help with me all the time.

Take it one day at a time...right now you have your Mom's help, Hopefully the concern will go away and you'll be off bedrest by the time your Mom goes back to work.

So sweet, thanks so much.  My parents have a lake house near Monroe.  I live up near Newburgh/Marlboro.  I am praying to God that it does not last more than a month because that is when my Mom leaves.  If it does, I may have to take you up on that offer!!!  You are too sweet! I have a few friends who are willing to help, but they work full time and by the time they could get to me to help, DH would be on his way home.

As for my crazy MIL, sadly, neither of her parents are doing well and she basically lives at their house taking care of them.  She has not been around in a few weeks.

Doctors appointment tomorrow so I am praying for good news.  Thanks for all the well wishes ladies!
