I'm a triathlete!
There's a pretty detailed race report in my blog, but overall, the race was awesome!
The 1/2 mile swim was more difficult than I thought, but I know I could have done better, since I felt like my timing chip was going to come off of my ankle the whole time. However, it felt great to be passing men. I need to work on sighting boueys.
The 10 mile bike was unbelievably hilly for the first couple miles, which made it really hard, and I was pretty disoriented from the swim to bike transition. A lot of people were passing me, but I chalk it up to me having a hybrid bike instead of a road bike.
The 3.1 mile run was pretty miserable since it was ALL HILLS, but at least it was mostly downhill on the way back. I was able to regulate my breathing, which made it much easier, and I had to keep reminding myself that my goal was to finish, and that's what I was going to do.
Once I saw the finish line, I knew it was all worth it, and I just could not believe that I had done it! I definitely want to do another one, but I'll probably wait until next year. I really need to upgrade my equiptment first.
However, the race was pretty disorganized, which I think was because it wasn't USAT regulated. They had no idea how many people were still out on the course, and they even shut down the finish line before people were even done. Sure, they were pretty slow, but give them the credit they deserve!
woooo hooo!
