new to how i met your mother...help please
i am catching HIMYM in random reruns.
i think i am on older episodes now b.c Robin and Ted are dating but Lilly and Marshall are not together. was that for more than one season? are lilly amd marshall divorced or just not married yet? when do Robin and Ted break up?
i am finding the show pretty hilarious and sorry i just never caught it sooner.
Re: new to how i met your mother...help please
I just started watching and I'm almost done with season two. What you described happens at the end of season 1-beginning season 2.
ah this is the missing link. i always thought they were the married couple on the show....i didn't know Robin and Ted dated either. thanks!
Details (stop reading if you don't want to know the specifics):
The series opens with Marshall and Lily (college sweethearts) getting engaged. This is what starts Ted off on the series-long journey to find a wife. Ted meets Robin in the pilot and by the end of Season One they're dating. Meanwhile, Lily gets cold feet, gives back her ring and moves to San Francisco in the season one finale to pursue an art career.
In season two, Lily moves back to NYC and wants to make up with Marshall but he isn't ready - they eventually get back together and in the season two finale they get married. Ted and Robin date throughout season two but eventually break up in the season finale because they want different things (Ted wants a family, Robin wants a career). They remain friends throughout the following seasons, although it gets awkward at times.
Season six just wrapped up, and season seven starts in the fall. Supposedly the series will end after the eighth season. They still haven't revealed who The Mother (Ted's wife) is, although there have been some clues along the way.
It's a good show. Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris are hilarious, and the girls can be pretty funny as well. Josh Radnor (Ted) is meh.
I'll also add, look for the bloopers from each season on YouTube. There's a blooper with Jason Segel yelling at Alyson Hannigan about George Washington Carver that had me in hysterical tears.
Agreed!

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

Married Bio
The bloopers for this show are pretty good. Any of them with Jason Segel yelling are good (there's also one where he's in the bathroom going on a tirade while Ted and Robin are in the shower). There's also an interesting outtake of a three-way...(season 3 or 4, I think).

I wanted to throw my remote through the TV whenever Robin tried to get back together with Ted. That "I don't ever want to have babies ... but if I did I'd want them to be your babies" thing with him was maddening.
The writers seem to have her constantly looking for a man lately, after they made a big stinking deal of her wanting to be a career-driven woman and never settle down (which IMO is an awesome thing to see in a female sitcom character). I get that she provides sexual tension and whatnot, but she just seems like she's using Ted as a backup for whenever her other plans fall through.
Yes, I find the bloopers hilarious. I am easily amused of course. There were two three-way bloopers that I can think of. Marshal-Lily-Robin (kinda), Marshal-Lily-Barney.
This is one of my favorite shows. Looking forward to last season coming out on dvd and the new season starting. Yay!
