BR: Names

I didn't want to hijack Ames thread...so here is my list of names. Levi, Wyatt, Leo, Asher, Azriel, Jonah/Jonas, Ezra, Silas, Emory, Isaiah, Auguste, Sterling. MN is Blaise (family name)

Re: BR: Names

  • I love the name Leo, but it is more because of association.  I used to nanny for a boy named Leo and he was the most adorable, well behaved and smart little guy :)

  • I love the name Wyatt!

I love Leo! My top pick! Glen...not so much. Your new sight picture is so cute! A happy, beautiful family! Oh, I met an 'Easten' the other day, same age as Weston & reminded me of him (the name).

  • I like Ascher best.  And then his initials would be ABC.  Which I think is adorable.

  • I like Levi and Ezra, for no particular reasons. I think I remember you posting about compromising classic names with more unique names (or something like that) and I think these are two good compromises.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Levi is a good compromise...  You have the L (as in Leo) but a name you and Glen both agree on!  It also sounds good with the MN Blaise.

  • LOVE Levi! I'm also rather partial to Azriel, but, thats probably mostly the association to the Smurfs, which could be a good thing or a bad thing I guess.
  • I should mention that Glen suggested 'Memphis'....SO not my style!!!

It's seriously a cool sounding name! Even if it is the name of the smurf's cat. It was a Glen suggestion.
  • I love the name Levi, but Jonah is a close second!
    ExerciseMilestone
  • Silas is my favorite followed closely by Wyatt. Wyatt Charron gives me this great image of a cowboy and a Parisian artist being best friends.

  • Putting the whole baby name together, my favorites are Levi, Leo, Asher, & Isaiah.

I think they just sound the best.

I like Emory, Levi and Ezra best (in no particular order).

  • Please don't name him Azriel, it's the name of a demon in the bible.

I really like Jonah, Ezra, and Isaiah with Blaise. The "ah" sound at the end flows nicely.

Really? I read that azriel was known as an archangel, like gabriel. It's not my favorite name. It's a glen pick. I think it sounds pretty though.

Technically  Lucifer was an archangel too.....

Sarges is correct. Both were archangels before being cast down. Azriel (or Azrael) is the Archangel of Death.

There is also a story in the Gospels which talks about Jesus coming acrossed a man who was possessed by a demon, and when Jesus commanded that he reveal his name, he called himself "Azrael."

    True, but a fallen archangel.

So many texts say different things,, but admittedly, I don't know too much about the different texts. Either way, I guess it's a moot point.

That is true. Also, there is some debate over whether the variation in spellings (Azrael v. Azriel) indicate that the two are different beings, or the same being but different spellings according to who was writing it.

I wish I knew more, in general, about religions and different texts. It's so interesting!! Glen is well versed, but I only know what I learned from him or things I picked up in bible study.

It's something that I'm really interested in as well, because I grew up in a world that was completely entrenched in the Christian faith, and as I got older I wanted to learn more about other religious practices. I took quite a few Religion courses in college, but I'm still always learning new things.

That's awesome, Ames! I'd love to take some classes like that.
  • I also love Leo, but it is my cat's name.  Of your list, I love Isaiah.  I posted some other suggestions in Ames's thread.

  • I like Levi, Wyatt, and Jonah/Jonas.

LOVE Jonah Blaise. Very cool, but also classic. That's feels like a very "you" name to me.

  • Levi, Silas and Jonah are my favorites (Jonah was on my list but H vetoed it b/c of a bad association).  I think Leo, Asher, Emory and August all sound a bit soft/feminine sounding.

love the bolded. LOVE Jonah LOVELOVELOVE. Another idea might be Jude....very cool name. I knew an Ezra in school....super cool guy.

Not a fan of Leo, it doesnt sound finished to me plus it makes me think of Leonardo DiCaprio who I cannot stand. Emory is a little too girly for me.
