Niners would never have thought that I used to...

Tell us something that we never would have guessed about you!

Re: Niners would never have thought that I used to...

  • Y'all would have never guessed that I used to cry whenever anyone said a cuss word around me.
  • I used to teach and compete in swing dancing. Never would have guessed!
  • I might have already shared these:

I used to have a lip ring.

I used to have bright pink hair. (Not at the same time as the lip ring!)

  • I used to smoke (cigs and pot).

I was a competitive gymnast (before the above).

  •  I had a boy haircut(think bowlcut) for most of my elementary school years.  I will never forgive my mom for allowing me to look that like all that time.  ;)
  • Great post!

I did a lot of acting in HS; I was a big theatre buff at the time

Read tarot cards and did psychic readings professionally in my late teensearly 20's.

  • ...be a punk rocker. I dyed my hair blue & green, wore all the grunge/hot topic type clothing, tought myself to play an electric guitar (which I now forget), and had every sqaure inch of my bedroom walls cover with posters from Rancid, Sex Pistols, The Ramones, etc. Oh and I have a total of 6 piercings in my ears.....3 of which I did myself with nothing more than a sewing needle !

...be a total band geek. I played trumpet in Jr. High and was in the Color Guard of my High School's marching band. We actually won the State Championship each year I was in it Smile

This isn't my "wouldn't have guessed about me," but I just wanted to say MEEE TOOOo!!! I played trumpet in HS (concert) and was in the Guard (marching season). I was captain my Jr./Sr. years!! Yay, band! We were too small to compete in states, but we went to FestiFall at VA Beach every year and usually took first or second in all of our competitions.

    Another band geek here! Colorguard...rifles!
  • I, too, was a band geek -- I played clarinet since 4th grade all the way through my first year of college.  I was pretty decent at it too, constantly competing with this other kid for 1st chair ALL. THE. TIME.  I was even in jazz band (via auditions only) and probably would have continued to play if I remained in school/Massachusetts

Also, I used to love construction work.  When I was in high school, I was a member of the tech crew for our theater guild, and I absolutely LOVED building sets and painting scenery.

I picked up my trumpet last week and for some strange reason it wasn't sounding right. Danny made the comment that my "talent" was fleeting. However after tearing the whole thing apart, cleaning it and properly inserting the valves, it played great!!

I can still do Taps with the best of them.

  • And I can't think of a damn thing that I used to do/be that you guys wouldn't have guessed....

I'm pretty vanilla, and was for my past: I read a lot, I loved Super Nintendo, band was my life in high school....

I guess I could say that I was really shy. Now I'm pretty outspoken, but before my relationship with Danny I was pretty quiet/shy (except around my family). I still have a hard time making small talk though.

  • I'd never played a video game in my life before I went to college.

I used to be a cheerleader and play field hockey in high school.  I was admittedly kind of snotty.

  • I was a cheerleader for two years in high school (even my husband has a hard time believing this).

I used to be a pretty big pothead (college years).

    COLORGUARD unites!

I was in color guard for 4 years. I also was the captain of the soccer team, ran track, was Student Council President and Homecoming queen- Call me little Miss High School -

I was a HUGE tomboy- didnt even wear makeup until middle of college (besides the occasional mascara for a dance and lip gloss)

I played field hockey too! I did cheerleading for a week when I friend tried to talk me into it.  I was a decent tumbler from my gymnastics background, and they wanted me to be a flyer.  The girl who was supposed to hold me up and catch me was high as a kite the 1st practice, so I said no thanks.  I wasn't very peppy anyway.  I was kind of a tomboy/mopy teenager.

I was a flier until I got dropped and tore all of the ligaments out of my right ankle my junior year.  After surgery, 16 weeks on crutches and 6 months of PT I lost all desire to fly and kept my feet firmly on the ground for the remainder of my cheer career.

  • Another color guard girl here! I did flags/rifles for 5 years. I can't believe how many guard girls we have. That's hilarious.
  • Wow, I was in color guard in HS too, I was a captain for 2 years! But that and being in theater doesn't surprise anyone because thats like all I talk about it feels like.

  • I don't think there's anything I haven't shared before....

I was a hardcore volleyball player back in the day, played 12 months out of the year - for one of the best high schools in the state, one of the best club teams in the nation.  I met with my first college recruiter when I was 14.  Then I got hurt when I was 16 and it all fell apart.  Never even made it to varsity.

I did win several championships in college at the club level playing sand volleyball on a men's 4-man team.  I can pretty much only play in the sand these days after getting hurt.

  • ...I was really into punk rock and even worked on Warped Tour for two years. I was a radio DJ for my college and was given free tickets and interviewed several bands (i.e. Relient K, Over It, Street Dogs/Dropkick Murphys, Senses Fail, Mae). If you check my facebook, there are pictures of me with Travis Barker of Blink 182 and Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance.

I used to have such a rockstar life.

  • I don't know if this surprises anyone but I used to be a huge concert go-er and a borderline groupie.  I followed around John Mayer, Howie Day, Maroon 5, Matt Nathanson and Jason Mraz in their early days.  I have some ridiculous stories...

Another random fact: I received the highest score my proctors had ever seen for a non-native French speaker on my French placement exam before starting my freshman year of college.  I was proud because I never studied abroad.  Now my French is super rusty.
