BIG move...BIG changes!

So my Husband and I got married and almost immediately moved from our home to a different state. Now all this was planned before our wedding so I knew what i was getting into. But things are so different here. I went from working full time to being a stay at home mom. I'm lonely and depressed......on top of that my husbands job is different i went from his days off being his days off to......him being with us but not really with us...if that makes any sense..... Help our relationship is really struggling because of this.

Re: BIG move...BIG changes!

  • H and I did that. The day we got back from our honeymoon, we moved abroad. His job hours there were nuts.

Communication is key. Also, it sounds like part of it might be you haven't made any friends in your new place. Have you tried seeking out moms groups?

  • Yep -- try mom's groups, volunteer, find things to do.

There are also hobbies you could indulge in -- if you haven't got a hobby, get one. :)
  • Try mom groups, your local board, volunteering. And communicate with your husband.
  • meetup.com is a good way to find people with similar interested.  how old are your children?  find a mom's group for their age maybe?
  • I think a great child care program and a flexible job would be a fabulous way to go. Lots of moms enjoy staying at home. Lots of others enjoy the structure of employment, the extra income and cherished family time together.
My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.
  • FINALLY, a similar situation, however, I have not relocated yet, I will be making the BIG MOVE in FEB 2012, counting down, seven months, I'm starting to freak out a little. I'm engaged, our wedding is about 16 months out!!! I'm leaving a major city and going south, to a small town. I've been in healthcare for close to 30 yrs. Well, ppl say to me, " o, you will find a job easily" I'm still concerned and have researched and am expecting a BIG PAY CUT!!!!!! Lastly, my fiance travels 9 months out of the YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! As you have stated Mrs. Heldman, I know all of this going in!!!!!!! Just love the MAN!!!!!!!! God sent!!!! Prayed about this many many nites. I encourage you to communicate and ALWAYS stay OPENMINDED and learn to COMPROMISE!!! I thank you for your post. If all else fails, SEEK counseling, DON'T GIVE UP, DON'T GIVE IN, I wish you warm blessings. Keep me posted... You have helped me to keep my eyes open and be PROACTIVE. GOD BLESS U!
