WLC UGH!!

So...I've been using my scale since the WLC started..same scale I've had for a long time, but didn't use while I was pregnant -- just relied on doctors' scale etc. Well a few weeks ago I stopped having any losses -- I had one "perfect" week and gained! Needless to say I was very frustrated. However, it was all within 2 lbs. so I had no reason not to trust my scale. Well this week each time I stepped on the scale it was way lower and vastly different than the time before -- like a 12 lb. swing. I figured it was the battery and bought a new battery today. Each time I step on it is the same weight, but about 10lbs. lower than the last time I thought the scale was working -- last week! Obviously, not possible -- I know myself..not possible. So I'm thinking the battery has been going (it would flash "Lo", but seemed to work fine)...so I don't know what my starting weight was...If I trust what the scale says it would be about a 25 lb. loss which I suppose is possible given the amount I have to lose.

I'll weigh again in the morning and see what it says on an empty stomach etc. I do have my measurements, which I know are accurate and I know the number isn't that important...WWYD?

Re: WLC UGH!!

  • Hmmm... tough one. I'd probably weigh this week and then next week and not trust a 10 lb difference... Im sorry... that's so frustrating....
  • The only thing I'm thinking is it could be accurate because if I assume the scale stopped working right about 3 weeks ago 10 lbs is entirely possible..oh well's....its just a number..not a big deal.

  • 10 lbs in 3 weeks sounds reasonable... maybe you should go with that but dont put too much emphasis on it one way or the other... just go forward. Smile
  • I have a WW scale. When the battery going low it gives out random weights. A few weeks ago, it gave me a 15lb difference and then kept going up until it was about right. The next day same thing, less and then kept going up. I still need to change the battery but have been too afraid to get back on the scale since I have been off WW for about a month due to traveling and just being lazy.

  • It is a WW scale..lol!

Ok so DH tested it out and its 2 lbs less than when he weighed a few weeks ago..totally accurate he feels. So I'm going to take my starting weight as "real" (it jived with my last doctor's appointment) and will weigh in the morning.

Oops! I do let it zero out..it actually won't work if you don't.

My last weigh-in at the OB would be a good "real" starting weight...I have no reason to go there though...hmm...maybe I could make up a UTI or something...(kidding)

  • If it were me, I'd just go to Bed, Bath and Beyond and hop on/off all the scales they have set up. Even if they're off a little, they should get you in the ballpark!
