So, I decided to take a leap of faith and apply for the study abroad job (I have contacted the connections I have at the University, but haven't heard back from them yet).  They want a cover letter, resume and references.  For references I have the principal of the high school I currently work at (to be contacted only if an offer will be extended), my department head and I am thinking I need one more.  I have a request in to a professor at the university (who I continue to work with), but my questions is if she doesn't answer in time should I a) use her anyway (I have used her as a reference in the past), b) use another colleague (teacher) or c) a former student (who I spent a lot of time mentoring on her college application process, majors/minors, etc).  What would you do?

Thank you so much ladies...this is truly my dream job, so I want to do everything I can to have the best shot I can!

Re: references

  • Definitely not a). You should always get an OK from a reference

Either b) or c) sound fine.
