I'm eating Cheez-Its

which I bought in the local grocery store at close to American prices.  You may all be jealous now. Stick out tongue

Re: I'm eating Cheez-Its

  • I am jealous! They have them here at specialty grocery stores...they were about $4.50 at first and I bought some but now they have increased the price to $7.50...I will need to have a really huge craving to pay that..

  • By close to American prices I mean they were around $4.50.  I justify this statement by the fact that they cost somewhere around $15 at the American store in Geneva.  I don't actually remember what they cost in the US, but I have a hunch it's far closer to $4.50 than it is to $15.
  • $15!!  That's making the $7.50 not seem so bad...I might need to go over and get some...

  • That reminded me that Pam Non-Stick Spray was 18 euros a can in France.

  • I can't believe there are Cheez-Its in KL and I didn't know!  I would have stocked up, they are my absolute favorite.

I tried to get the American store near my flat in London to stock them but they said they couldn't import them because their expiration date was too short and they'd be expired by the time they arrived in the UK.  LIARS!

Well that was a crazy couple of years.

  • I could eat a whole box of those in one sitting.  YUM!

Where's this American store? Is it the "candy store" in Covent Gardens?

  • Not sure what store pp is talking about but for American food, check out Panzers in St Johns Wood. Also, the Budgens in Belsize Park has a small American section - I noticed American cereal, Snyder's flavored pretzels, and kettle corn, as well as a bunch of baking stuff.

Partridges carries American food as well. http://www.partridges.co.uk/index.php/fuseaction/shop.category/categoryid/15

Quite a few of us have ordered from http://www.americansweets.co.uk/ (They also have a shop outside of London. I dropped quite a bit of cash out there when I visited last summer!)

I'm 99% sure I'll be going up to PP in early September.  I can bring a box with me if you'd like.

The one nearest my place was on the corner of Ladbroke Grove and Holland Park Ave, not far from the Holland Park tube.  There wasn't too much selection, but they have things like goldfish crackers and bisquick.

There's a photo in my blog - it looks like a standard shopfront but there's a little sign above it.

You would immediately skyrocket to the top of my "favorite people on earth" list.

  • Depending on the size of the box, $4.50 isn't too much higher than here. I think the bigger box is $3.25. I usually try to get the 2 for $5 sale, because DH and I can easily eat a whole box each, within like a day, lol.
  • The summer after I graduated from college we shared an apartment with DH's brother for the summer. He was trying to watch his weight so he would buy low fat Cheez-its. I love them so I would buy the regular ones. More than once, after a night at the bars, we would find him the next morning on the couch, covered in crumbs, with my empty box of regular Cheez-its next to him  Crying
