Are there places you can rent strollers/pack and plays etc

while traveling?

We are looking at going skiing this year and would be flying.  We would be staying in a rental house which may or may not have pack and play etc.

We'd need a stroller while there.  I don't know how well an umbrella would work in the snow around town.  I guess we would take our jogging stroller but it just doesn't seem very easy to deal with on airplane travel. especially since we are also having to take a car seat....or do car rental companies rent those as well?

  • We have the $39 Cosco Scenera carseat for travel.  It piggy backs upside down perfectly on a rolling carry-on with a bungee cord strap.

I don't think a jogging stroller would be too difficult to travel on an airplane with.

This is our biggest complaint about the Bob stroller.  Rental car companies rent car seats.

There may be a company that rents this stuff where you are going.  I know people who have rented baby gear in Hawaii and S. Carolina, so anywhere that is a major vacation destination would probably have someone who does!

  • the hotel would usually have a pack and play but you can rent cribs too, we used to do it whenever my sister visited. Car rental places do rent car seats but they don't guarantee they'll have one even if you reserve it. Plus they're usually $20-$30 a day so it might be better just to bring a cheap one.

ETA:sorry, somehow glossed over you said something about the rental house not having one.

  • Contact who ever you're renting the house from; we used VRBO in Costa Rica and they provided a pack and play even though I'm certain the owner didn't have small children.  I suspect he had a rental agency deliver it to the house.  He used an agency there to handle security, cleaning, concierge type stuff and I'm sure they were also the ones who supplied the pack and play.

We just took an umbrella stroller and a carrier (because we didn't want to wrestle the Bob through the airport). We were fine, but then my kiddo can walk so if you don't like using a carrier, I'd probably lug the Bob.

Instead of a high chair we bought one of these  and it worked really well.  It straps on nearly any chair and it's also a bag so it doubled as a diaper bag when we were out and about.

My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • Baby's Away rents things out

And when we fly with our P&T, we just luggage check it in an enormous duffel bag and have never had any problems with it.

Personally, I would not rent a car seat from a car rental agency.  They never seem to have the car you actually picked out so no way would I trust them to have a good seat.

  • also if you rent a place through VRBO, many of them that are listed as child friendly state that they have a crib and/or pack n play available.

I agree about the car seat.  We take ours with us and it's no problem with this:

Makes traveling with C so much easier.

We travel to Steamboat often in the snow and I've only ever seen joggingish strollers our during the dead of winter (at least a stroller with bigger/ heavey duty wheels)

If you're going somewhere more pedestrian with bigger walkways you could get away with a smaller stroller but I'd be leery.

We usually rent through there.  I'll have my dad make sure to ask!

    Thanks girls!

I did look up online on walmart(which the Frazier, CO has) and I can get a PNP for under $40.

C would be walking by that time as she'll be 13 months but I don't know how well she'll be able to navigate the snow ;-)

What week(s) are you going.  DH may be taking C up by himself this year.  But if we aren't using it of course you can.  It's so easy.  I highly recommend it.

Ha! They do have the place we would stay!

Jogging stroller is only $12 for the week.  That might be easier than lugging.

I'll have to talk it over with DH.
