Does anyone live in or around Madison, GA? We are thinking about moving to GA and were wondering what Madison was like. DH saw some houses for sale online and was wondering what life and the area was like there. We're currently from a very busy metropolitan area and want something more quiet with land. We also want a good school system for DD and myself as I'm a teacher. TIA.
Re: Madison, GA
I agree.
We frequently go to Augusta GA and Madison is THE only stop on I-20 that we know has restaurants and bathrooms! (I'm not kidding. I-20 is no man's land in some places)
Its very small, but has a Wal-Mart, HD, CFA.

It's a cute area and not too far from Athens. There are some beautiful historic homes as well as older and new subdivisions, and the roads are great for cycling if you are into that. Lake Oconee is close by and offers recreation opportunities, and there are several nearby State Parks.
If your DH was going to commute to Atlanta, it would be a pretty long drive. I'd look more in the Conyers/Covington area although the schools may not be as good. It's quiet in Conyers/Covington, and you can get some land there. The commute would be 20-30 minutes closer to Atlanta.

If you are from a very busy metro area now. Madison is beautiful but very very sleepy and about 45-60 minutes from anything major. I would move closer to Atlanta if your husband is going to commute in.
Atlanta Traffic is brutal. I've done a commute from all the major interstates coming to Atlanta. I-85, I-75, I-20. It can be a very long commute and it wears you down.
