DOTD - Happy Monday!

today's question -- to which I can almost predict the responses Wink is - do you ever drink alone?  (remember - this is a box of Happy Hour cards, so yeah, they are skewed....)

Me = YUP.  I often have a glass of wine  while waiting for John to get home. I don't get drunk alone, which is a different question.

  • Never! **clutches pearls defensive** Stick out tongue

Does a sleeping Baby Handy count as alone?

I will definitely have a few glasses of wine or beer if DH is out for some reason, usually on the weekend, but sometimes on a weekday.

  • absolutely! i do usually wait for josh to get home before i pour myself a glass of wine (unless it has been a particularly bad day). and when the hub is away, i love some solo wine time with a chick flick.

  • Yep.

Although, like Pam, I don't get drunk alone.

Except this past Saturday.  I was kinda buzzed up.  Oops.

  • Sometimes.  I will have a glass of wine when I get home or drink when H is OOT.  I don't go out and drink alone usually.

  • I will occasionally have a glass of wine when I am home along. I have never gone to a bar and drank along though.

  • Heck yeah.  After driving 3.5 hours in stop-and-go traffic and through four storm cells on I-95 S yesterday, you'd better believe one of the first things I did when I got home was crack open a beer.

Generally, I'll have a beer or a glass of wine on my own, but I don't get drunk or go to bars on my own.

  • Why not?  Sometimes a good beer or glass of wine at the end of the day is needed.  But, basically, like everyone else, I don't tend to get drunk on my own.

  • Hells yeah.  Unfortunately I'm rarely home alone, so there's not much opportunity for it.

  • Ditto Pam&John. I'll have a glass or two by myself - generally if DH is out of town and I'm chilling out - but I don't get drunk alone, ever. That is not always the case with DH, which I find annoying . . .

  • Sometimes, I'll even drink in front of DH if he's not going to have anything.
  • Actually, no. I'm not much of an at-home drinker, though DH and I are starting to do it more often. But, I can't think of an occasion when I've had a drink alone.
  • Heck yes. And (pre-C) I will admit to getting a little tipsy on occasion. Particularly if Dirty Dancing or similar is on tv.
  • Not really actually.  DH occasionally pours me a glass of wine but I rarely think to do it myself.  My grandfather was an alcoholic (according to my mom, he passed before I was born) so I've always been very cautious about drinking alone.
  • Yep, all the time. I don't get drunk, but I'll have a glass of wine.

  • Yes, but it's not that common. It will usually be my treat though if hubz is away on business and I'm mopey/bored. However, considering that one glass of wine causes me to lose all sensation in my face and arms, I will admit to getting inadvertently drunk alone. (I'm such a cheap date...) Embarrassed
  • Well, in one sense I almost always drink alone since my DH doesn't drink alcohol. But I normally drink when he's around, since I tend to have wine with dinner only.
  • Not so much since LO was born, but pre-baby, yes.

  • no, I am not a drinker at all. I hardly ever drink when I am out in social settings, I have even less reason to drink alone.

  • Most decidedly yes.  Chick Flick+ a glass (or two) of wine==relaxing night :-)
  • Most definitely. I will drink alone at home and at bars. Sometimes I am drinking alone at a bar waiting for DH to meet after work since I get out of work almost an hour before he does. Other times, he is out of town and I want to watch a sporting event that I can't get at home. So I'll sit at the bar and have some drinks. Sometimes I chat with the people around me (if they start a conversation) or will make small talk with the bartender while watching the game.

  • No, DH and I aren't really home drinkers, unless we have company, and I'm not home alone very often, especially at night.

Now, if the question was, "Do you ever eat a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's alone from the carton in one sitting?" or "Do you ever occassionally eat an entire bag of chips while alone?" then my answers would be decidedly yes. Those are my treats when I get alone time.

  • Definately yes!  I've been known to have a couple glasses of wine or beers when I'm home alone.  On work travel I often saddle up to the hotel bar to have a glass or two.  I don't make a daily habit of it, so I'm good with it!
  • we aren't really big drinkers to begin with - we maybe have 1 - 2 drinks a month, if that.

the most I ever had ( at one sitting ) was at a winery with friends I think it was maybe 4 glasses of wine ... ?

alcoholism runs on both sides of our immediate families - so we have both always been very cautionary about drinking, muchless drinking alone
