Can you help me shop?
I have a table against a wall that really is a desk, but it is the height of what I'd call a sofa table. It sits under a huge mirror, with just a few things on top. But really, it was a cheap piece and I'd like to replace it with something that has storage.
This is kind of what I have in mind...although I'm not paying that much. Any suggestions on where I could get it for less? I'll use the squares for baskets of toys, books and then also some photos.

You could put a back on this one to make it similar to the other $179.
This one has glass doors but you could leave them off $139.

I saw these at Home Depot last week. The one at Eldridge and 1960.
We got some "functional furniture" for toys about a year ago from Pier 1. We really like it b/c I feel like we can use it even after the toy stage is done. We looked at the Expedit at Ikea, but the only thing that made me hesitant is that you could still see toys over the tops of the baskets, even when put away. Also, really the only colors it came in were white, black, oak, and dark brown - I didn't feel like any one of them fully "went" with our living room furniture/decor.
The one was chose had accordian-style doors that open up and they stick with magnets. It completely covers the toys, so we can put them away when company comes over, and DS can easily get to the toys when he wants to. It was a little pricier, though (~$500), but I figured I would be able to use it for a long time, so we got it. I don't see it anymore on the Pier 1 website, though. :-(
We had a hard time finding exactly what we were looking for. GL!

We have the first one in the black-brown in DD's room as a toy holder/bookshelf. We got the lighter brown wicker-type baskets (we got 4 and they are alternated in the cubes-basket/open/basket/open). I like it a lot and it is a great price.
