Tissue Paper Pom Poms - too cute

We are having a party for my girl's 1st and 2nd birthday.  And, since I am now addicted to Pinterest, I have gotten so many cute ideas lol

I am doing a lot of DIY decorations, so I figured I could just start early.

I have already made the outfits, flag banners (which has 40 flags on each one), and started the tissue paper pom poms tonight.  Although up close, they look kinda of funky - from a few feet away, I think they look really cute.

I can't wait for the party just so I can share all my craftiness

So, 4 down, about 20 to go :)

  • how are you going to hang them for the party? i keep wanting to make them, but have no clue where/how i'd display them...just clear tape the string to the ceiling???
  • I made some too for my DD's 2nd birthday party.  I am wondering how I am going to hang them too.  LOL

I am making them into Sesame Street character faces.  Basically I am adding eyes to the appropriate color pom pom.  I will let you know how that works out.

I plan to start the banner and other decor items today, include cupcake picks, food signs, SS characters and anything else I think of.

I used Martha Stewart's directions to make the pom poms and they worked out great.

I used string to gather the center, and kept a long "tail".

I will be hanging them from tree branches, and on the corners of a gazebo

But, you could just tape string to the ceiling.  They are super light, so it is not like they will pull.
