S/O of MB's mouse issue, Kreeper stay out
My Mom was moving her trash cans to the curb yesterday and almost got bit by a small rattlesnake. She killed* it before it struck, but still scary. If it was me, I'd have probably been paralyzed with fear and been bit. Dang drought.
*Sorry animal lovers, poisonous snakes hanging around the back porch where my 2 year old niece plays are going to be beheaded, not relocated.
Re: S/O of MB's mouse issue, Kreeper stay out
I would have burned my garbage can. And then my house.
I would have also left tire marks on the street driving away from the inferno.
I think very few animal lovers will begrudge you killing a poisonous snake that close to a residence. Except some PETA members and Drew Barrymore who cries FOR onions, not because of them.
I'm glad she killed it! This drought has everything coming out of the woodwork looking for water. And with the mice coming out the snakes are out too looking for them AND water.

LOL You sound like me!
This is my attitude toward snakes, as well.
DH found a "small" (10"-12") grass snake on the side of our house with the A/C unit while he was doing the yard a few weeks ago - I've limited my time in the backyard and haven't been NEAR that side of the house since.
DH and his best friend who lives down the street found a huge 3'-4' beastly water moccasin in his backyard and killed it last week - I've stayed in the car the past two times we've stopped by to say hi. lol
That same friend is the type to render obsolete most any sort of rodent/insect/reptile that gets in/around his house - including possums which had been chewing their way into his garage. I saw on the news that possums are also amongst the critters that are out in higher numbers in search of water - but that they are friend not foe because they kill snakes and rodents. So, fyi - befriend the possums. lol
