Applique Help

So I really want to appliqu? a large bee on a quilt for my son.  He nickname is B - HA HA so not clever but anyway.  I have all the fabric and I picked out a couple of bee images that are fairly simple and I thought would work but I have absolutely no idea where to start now.  I'm afraid quite honestly.  I look at the tutorials and the all seem a bit different and as a beginning quilter anyway I am not sure what technique would be easiest.

TIA for any help you can offer.

Re: Applique Help

  • Get some Heat & Bond Lite (in the purple package) and iron it onto your fabric. If your bee picture is an outline, tape it up onto a window/door and use the light behind it as a lightbox and trace your bee onto the paper backing of the H&B. (If it's not, try to trace it onto the paper the best that you can.) Then, cut out your bee shape, iron onto your quilt and then use a zig zag stitch to reinforce it.

Be sure to NOT use the steam when you're ironing it. It won't stick. And make sure you get the H&B Lite, the other stuff is for iron on only.
