Interesed in Relocation to DWF
I have been trying to relocate to the DFW area for about 8 months. I have applied for well over 50 jobs all over TX. My background is in higher education administration. Do you have any advice?
Re: Interesed in Relocation to DWF
Interested?
Are you looking for job help or areas to live in? What kind of advice?
Education is tough to get into right now.

Job help.
I have only applied to the higher education institutions. Is there another field right now that may have a shortage in TX or I may be able to use transferable skills?
There are a lot of community colleges, public colleges/universities and several private schools. Apply for EVERYTHING even if its not the exact job what you want. Many of the schools hire/promote from within so you will probably start at the bottom.
Where are you moving from? Why moving to DFW?
Thanks! Michigan. The economy is horrendous, my husband is having a horrible time finding/keeping a job in his field, the auto industry tanked in Detroit and so did the rest of our state, the weather is horrible it is cold 6-7 months a year. I could go on and on. I have vacationed in TX and would love to call it home one day very soon.

I was just thinking this! It's true. It gets miserably hot here and you are not guaranteed snow in the winter. And then of course, we may have record snow. Texas weather is very unpredictable.
I moved here from the midwest a few years back, and was born and raised in Michigan and Wisconsin. They aren't kidding when they say you trade the horrible snow in the winter for horrible heat in the summer. However, it's still worth it -- especially since there were only 3 days last year when snow/ice kept me from getting where I needed to go (and that was a fluke).
I can't help too much, except to say that I know how hard it is to get a job from far away (I tried for 6 months from afar). Heck, even when I moved down here (to be with my H who already lived here) it still took me 7 more months to get an interview in my field. Apply to as many jobs as you possibly can. I applied to probably over 250 before I got my interview.
GL!
