T & P's for DH

Dh called me yesterday morning around 9:30 and said he might need to go to the hospital for stomach pains, but he was going to try to make it through an 11:30 conference call.  He called me an hour later and said he needed to go.  So, I rush home (I had just gotten to school to work in my classroom), and he had someone drive him home.  He took a quick shower and off we went to St. Luke's.

The nurse and the doctor both thought it sounded a lot like kidney stones, but he wasn't having all of the classic symptoms.  So, they sent him off for a CT scan, and it came back showing that he has diverticulitis - an infection in his colon.

They ended up admitting him over night for the IV antibiotics, and I just spoke to him (it's 8am), and he'll probably be there for a few days.

Poor guy is in a ton of pain, can't sleep, it hurts to lay down, and it just miserable in a boring hotel room.  He has his laptop and a new DROID to keep him busy, but he can only do that for so long.

And to top it off...his sister decided that she needed to come stay with me :(

The help was great last night, since R won't go to the hospital, and I was able to stay up there with Kyla for a bit, but she wouldn't stop talking last night and I didn't get to bed til midnight. I was exhausted after a day in the hospital and running around.  Thank goodness K is a good sleeper.

I just hope she doesn't decide to stay until DH comes home.  She isn't exactly helpful around the house.  (she's 35 with 3 of her own kids) She'll get R all wound up, while I attempt to clean up my house.  It'll make me very cranky.

Re: T & P's for DH

  • My dh has that also and has been hospitalized two times for it in the last few years. I know how painful it can be. With a better diet he has been able to manage it but I know they want to do surgery. He hasn't had another outbreak so he has avoided that route for the time being.  I hope he feels better once the medication kicks in.
  • Oooh, I hope he feels better soon.  I will be thinking about him.

That happened to Jeff right before Davis was born, he was in a ton of pain.
