QOTD: favorite smartphone apps?
I know everyone loves Angry Birds, but other than that?
I'm boring, since I haven't had my phone long and mostly I use FB and gmail. I did download an app called 'Happy Hour' which tells you about local happy hours, and you shake your phone to select one at random while it makes a sound like a cocktail shaker. That one is fun. I also like UrbanSpoon. I haven't actually used either to select a bar/restaurant yet, but I think they have great potential.
For fun, I used the UrbanSpoon app before going to dinner the other night and it happened to select a place next door to where we were already headed, which I thought was sort of crazy.
Re: QOTD: favorite smartphone apps?
I just download Fruit Ninja last week and I am addicted.
I also use TMZ, IMDB, WIkipedia a lot and NESN but that would only be useful if you are a Boston sports fan
A few games for me and E, Espn, Endomondo (for running), Pandora, Fb of course, Fandango and my local paper. Theres pretty much an app for anything, just depends on what you do on a daily basis. We aren't big enough for the happy hour and restaurant apps to be worth it, unless we were on vacation so I don't have those ones.
No smartphone for me, just my iPod touch. Hopefully soon I'll be getting the iPhone.
I usually just play w/ my Bookworm app on the iPod and the Pink Pad which is my period tracker. Nothing too exciting.
I actually despise angry birds. I don't get what all the hype is about. When I steal DH's droid, it's just to post on FB or use the GPS when we're not in a WIFI area.
I don't get the angry birds hype either. At all. I just figured if I didn't mention it, I'd be hearing about it.
There are a LOT of period/ovulation trackers, I noticed. I only have a couple of apps that I added myself, my phone came with a ton of junky ones and a couple of useful ones (namely FB, gmail, yahoo mail, and mapquest). I used the GPS/mapquest thing for the first time Saturday and spent the whole time thinking, "YES! THIS is why I have a freaking smartphone!".
Oh yeah, we also use the MOVIES app (aka Flixster) and once I get the iPhone, you bet your sweet arse I'll get the IMDB app! I'm always like, "she was in such and such movie" DH never believes me. IMDB is my bestie....
Steph, I currently have a BB too. But not even w/ a data package, that's how uncool I am.
I have the normal ones like FB (which I don't use very often b/c it is just faster and easier to get to the stuff I want if I use the browser), Pandora, a Kindle app, and of course Angry Birds (both regular and the Rio version... but I get stuck on levels and wont play for long periods of time).
I just downloaded "falling ball", and "ant smasher" which are crazy addicting. Also in games- I have sudoku, mahjong, and "paper toss", a 250+ solitare one and tetris.
H really likes to mess with his photos with one called "sketch me" and I use the "maps" one that came on my phone for navigation occasionally.
I also have one called "ColorNote" that works like personal post-it notes... it can be really useful for remembering all the crap I need to do in town or pick up at the store without losing tiny scraps of paper.
I'm a bit of a phone whore, can you tell? Since we were in the car for a while this weekend, I downloaded some new stuff, so it looks worse than it usually is...
I only initially had one b/c I was so irregular. Now I like it so I can see when I'm supposedly fertile...
I used to be very irregular, so I understand that completely, Brew.
I know some people use Fertility Friend (or My Fertility Friend, something like that) on their phones.
I've got Android and use Plume (for Twitter), Google Reader, Goodreads, Fertility Friend, MInt, Words with Friends, LinkedIn, Allrecipes and Keyring in addition to all the basics like IMDB and FB and such. I don't play many games on my phone, but I have Alchemy, Unblock Me, Slice It and 3 versions of Angry Birds. I haven't played AB in at least a year. There are more I have, but those are the most used.
I have tried to Nest from my phone, but it is a PITA. The entire page loads, and then I have to zoom in before I can pick a thread. Then load and zoom in there. Lots of zooming. I haven't actually tried to respond to a thread from my phone though.
i cant nest from my phone, i cant reply.
i do love pandora, words with friends, and imdb. those are the three i use most. oh, and the WW app.
Blog
Words with friends, FB, AB, Fandango. I also have an app called RedLaser that lets you scan a barcode and it'll tell you where you can find it and for how much in your local area & online.
I have Words with Friends, Ant Smasher (it's addicting and wastes time if you ever need that), and ClearNotes which someone else mentioned. I love that thing. google+, living social, groupon, and pandora. That's about it.
I do have this pointless app that's "Talking Gina"/"Talking Tom" and one's a giraffe and the other is a cat and basically it mimics what you say. Pretty funny the first time you do it around friends and they're like "What???". Other than that, pointless.
I can nest from my phone. I just have to go under settings and click something so I can post. I can't do paragraphs so I hardly ever post from my phone though.
