Read bad reviews about company I have an interview for

I have an interview to teach online. The money is comprable to the public schools in my area.

Problem: I read some HORRIBLE reviews from current teachers and past teachers about the company. Actually, all but one were negative.

I am not going to let on that I read them in the interview. Should I consider the reviews or blow them off as disgruntled employees?

I took a teaching job in the past for the money, and TOTALLY regreted it. I was a prisioner to the company and left after one year. I just don't want to make the same mistake twice.

Re: Read bad reviews about company I have an interview for

  • I actually would ask about it during the interview (unless I was desperate for a job or something.) Toward the end of the interview, when they ask if you have any questions, I'd ask a couple and then say somethink like, "When I did my research on the company, I read a few things that really concerned me. For example, I frequently heard that there's little support from administration over non-participation issues and that there's no curriculum control. Are those things true? If not, is there something you've done to address them?"

If they're still true or if the interviewer makes a huge fuss about it, nothing's lost because you wouldn't want to work there anyway. If they're not true and you ask politiely, you'll have assuaged your concerns and shown the interviewer that you did your research and are a consciencious employee.

  • completely agree with previous poster, good luck!!
