Detroit Anniversary Weekend PIP

Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary and we spent the weekend in Detroit.  It was a great weekend!!  Way too short :-)

Friday night we arrived at the Marriot at the Renaissance Center, which is right on the river front.  It is definitely a fancy place.  It consists of 5 towers that house tons of different stuff.  There is a shopping center, different resaurants, a movie theater, the hotel, and GM's head quarters.  Friday night after we arrived we took some time to explore the towers and ate dinner at the Volt Lounge :-)

We booked a package that included the buffet breakfast, so Saturday we woke up and had our wonderful breakfast.  After eating we headed out to Detroit Historical Museum.  It was pretty cool.  My DH is a huge gear head and he really enjoyed learning about the history of the Motor City and seeing the history of the big car companies.  We were then going to go to the Motown Museum - which we were pretty excited about, but when we go there, there had just been two bus loads of what looked like family reunions.  We were not going to mess around with boat loads of people.  Oh well... We went back to the hotel and walked around the river walk which was really nice.  Later on we had a reservation at an amazing Italian called Andiamo's.  It was located in the same towers where we were staying.  The food was amazing!  We spent more on dinner that night than we ever have in our 9 years of being together haha!  But it was worth it :-)  After dinner we took the people mover to the Detroit Lions stadium to check it out and walk around down town a bit.

Yesterday we got up and enjoyed another breakfast buffet, got things cleaned up, and headed back home to western MI.  Last night we just enjoyed hanging out together.  We ordered pizza and a movie :-)  And then later on we sliced the top tier of our wedding cake!  It was actually still really good!

I can't believe that it has already been a year!  DH and I have accomplished SO much this past year.  DH finished college, he got an amazing job, we moved two states away, and now we our baby boy on the way.  And even though DH and I have been together 9 years, I feel like this past year living and husband and wife has brought us even closer together.  He is my soul mate and my best friend and I hope we are able to celebrate 50 more anniversaries together!!!

(I took my weekly belly picture at the hotel :-)  Here I am in our hotel room - 28 weeks pregnant!!)
