Cable providers

Talk to me about your cable provider.  My husband moves up to Toledo in a week and we looked at Buckeye Cable and the prices are much higher than down here in Cbus.  Who do you use?  Like or dislike?  Thanks!

Re: Cable providers

  • I have TWC, Buckeye isn't offered out here in Wauseon. TWC has shitty cs but It's cheaper than Direct TV or Dish

We have Time Warner also. Buckeye is not offered in my area either.  Hound does CS mean Customer Service? Sorry!! HaHa ... if so we haven't had any issues w/ them luckily.

  • Our friends had direct TV and switched to buckeye.  They think it's ok. not great.

We had buckeye for a while for cable.  Now we only have them for internet.  Nothing wrong just to much money.  We stream on hulu instead.

How do you get the most basic channels?  Like local news etc?

ya, customer service, my problems with them were a couple years ago but I'm still bitter

  • We have buckeye, cable, internet and phone.  The service has been great for our needs for internet and TV , their customer service is great from every experience we have, but I think they are over priced.  The phone service is the only thing that isn't the greatest.  Its just not 100% reliable.

  • I live in Findlay so Buckeye is not an option here. I started out with Time Warner, but we had issues with their equipment. We had a LOT of issues with the HD-DVR. We switched to DirecTV about 3 years ago and it started out cheaper than cable, but slowly went up. We still have Time Warner (road runner) for internet, but we got rid of our satellite service about 6 weeks ago and we bought a computer and hooked it up to our TV and now we live stream everything. Sports are a little difficult with it, but otherwise it is great.

This is us.  We bundled it back in March (used to have AT&T for phone and internet) and when that happened, they were having issues so we had no phone and no internet for most of a day and no phone for a few days (no biggie for me for either thanks to my cell phone...but still).  i have not heard anything good about TWC from anyone I know that has it.  And I don't know too any with U-verse (AT&T)...DH wanted to switch to that a few years ago, but I wasn't too gungho about it and sounds like some who have have regretted that.  My parents had DirecTV for many years, but switched to TWC and no happier.

  • We have had AT&T Uverse TV and Internet for a couple years with no problems.  The DVR can record 2 HD and 2 standard shows all at the same time, and if you have a receiver in another room (like another $10/mo) you can watch all your DVR'd stuff there too.  Internet is great, rarely goes down.

  • We have Buckeye and have had no real issues with it.  We did have a few problems with our DVR, but we easily exchanged it for a new one and even were given a $10 credit for our trouble.  I used to live out in Bryan, Ohio and had TWC, pricewise it wasn't much different, but that could be area dependent.  Buckeye is really good at issuing credits when something on their end isn't right.  We had a billing issue and on our next bill we got a $25 credit which rocked!  Not that the issues should exist in the first place, but they are good about getting them fixed.

My sister has U-verse from AT&T.  They have had some issues with getting things serviced because they are the first house in their neighborhood to use U-verse so apparently that has caused some problems (I'm not 100% sure what but they've had AT&T out there for the better part of a day at least twice).

I like the channel guide on U-verse MUCH better than TWC or Buckeye, but I don't know if that is something that is so important.

  • I hate TWC. It is horrible and the customer service is just as bad.

We had Buckeye and although not the greatest price, the customer service was awesome and we didn't have any problems with it.

    I miss Buckeye...

  • We have TWC and when we move into our new house in couple of months we will not get them again. We have had too many problems with their services. I feel bad for saying that but its the truth. But some people hate it and other love it. I guess it just depends

  • We have Buckeye, always have had it for as long as I can remember, even as a kid.  It is expensive, but it is pretty much it around here unless you want Direct TV or happen to have AT&T in the area you live in.  DH's grandma switched to it and after a week or so switched back to Buckeye, she was very disappointed in it and their customer service.

My only real issue with Buckeye is the price.  Otherwise, they're great, the customer service is outstanding.

  • I'm a little late, but we had TWC in Bowling Green and got Buckeye when we moved up to Toledo.  We liked Buckeye MUCH better, the service was much better and the prices were comparable.  We were so sad when we moved out of Toledo in October and realized we were going to have TWC again in Cleveland. :(
