I booked a stay at MGM Grand this weekend for Xmas with Man. I just checked my bank account due to OCD and they've charged me 6 times for the stay. I called the bank and the chick was all "well, what do you want me to do - the charges are pending you should be fine. But you can't access the money from the pending charges." Oookay, but the extra $600 dollars means I have $0 right now. Literally. Um. I can't wait 3 days to find out if I then have to contest this isht. WTF.
I'm calling MGM but I need to get this out so I don't unleash an unholy fury on the poor person answering the phone.

never book a hotel stay with a Debit card. a bank card works very different for hotels than a regular CC. if you can, send them a check and take off your Debit ALTOGETHER.
the hotel can authorize amounts in excess of what your stay will cost, and the banks can take up to 30 days to remove the holds.
