Moms with kids in daycare...
Who has their kids in daycare? And what are you paying? Ft/ pt? I have called a few places and most won't give me a quote without coming for a tour- a tour from 8am -6pm mon- fri when neither my hubs and i around. I got once place to give me a quote of 5 days full time $1810.00 a month I don't know what's outrageous price wise or reasonable. and I would prefer it to be on my route to work or my husbands since day care price/ location will determine what shift each of us works (so north rockland is out) Also If you have any you would recommend or avoid that would be helpful as well.
Re: Moms with kids in daycare...
Also know... infants are more expensive than toddlers... toddlers unpotty trained are more expensive than potty trained ones, etc...
Our daycare is $120/wk per kid = $240/wk. snacks 2x a day included plus milk @ lunch... however... we don't pay extended hour fee... they're there for 5 hours, or 9 and its the same rate.
This website was very helpful to me as I was specifically looking for an in-home daycare. It lets you search for all providers or specifically centers for in-home and gives you the number of children they have etc. Just plug in your zip code and start dialing

i think our infant rate is about $1200, 5 days a week, 40 hours a week (we do 9-5 as it's walking distance to dh's office so he can drop and get to work right around 9 and pick up minutes after 5).
they have cheerios on hand for when the infants are old enough to snack on it. i provide formula, diapers, lotions, wipes, food - everything.
rates drop at age 2.5. starting at age 1 in the first room after the infant room, they provide milk and breakfast items like kix if kids are there early. we always sent in milk because we chose to give Ava organic and they did not provide that.
there's a sibling discount on the older, already cheaper child. there are also corporate discounts. i would ask if there are discounts for law enforcement/gov't employees when you call.
