What to get my almost one year old for her b-day?
We already got two books for her but I'm lacking ideas for her "big" gift. I was thinking maybe something she can push as she learns to walk, like a little shopping cart? I [selfishly] don't want to get one of those popcorn thingys for her to push...our house echos like crazy and it would drive me crazy. Haha.
Other suggestions? Any traditional/classic toys I'm not thinking of?
Re: What to get my almost one year old for her b-day?
we had this walking toy for our kids and it was great. they still play with it (although they are usually pushing eachother around on it)

We have this one. The girls like it because they can put things in it or each other............

Crazy Christmas Kids!
also, great developmental toys for a 1 year old are nesting blocks. i suggest good wooden ones (Educo or Melissa & Doug make great ones) over cardboard.
bath toys are also good for this age.
but honestly, your daughter is not going ot know if she got a big gift or any gifts so don't stress too much about it

We got Rena this pink buggy for her first birthday and it was probably the best $50 I spent. She still tries to get into now but is way too tall for it!

bath toy

2/27/10 ConocoPhilips Rodeo Run 10K 1:10:49
they get so many toys/clothes from friends and family, so our 1st birthday "gift" for both girls was/will be a photo session.
Honestly, we didn't buy Cooper anything for his birthday or Christmas (they are just 3 weeks apart). We knew our parents were buying big things that we would have wanted to get him, and we were having a birthday party. I bought a few books for his stocking and called it a day.
I knew there were things I'd want to buy - like a slide - but I decided to wait until he'd use it than spend money for something that would sit in a box.
He was a fan of blocks & sorting toys. My mom got a wagon that he loves.
we didnt buy DS anything for his birthday. I'd bought a few things for the party (blow up pool and ball pit balls) but I knew our families would go overboard (and they did).
My parents got him a wagon, my IL's got him a ride on toy.
We have the same ride-on as above.
"I see a fire truck a bright red shiny fire truck"
you'll be singing it in your sleep. LOL But Cooper adores it.
We also have this train, we bought it when he first started walking w/ a push toy last fall and he still plays with it. Now he is starting to learn his alphabets so he plays more with the blocks and interactive portion of it. It's been a great toy but it also plays music that may get permanently stuck in your head.
My mother got this for DD right around her first birthday and she played this thing to death!
