Okay, so last night was NUTS. Our power went out for a couple of hours. I think we were in the area very close to those 90mph wind gusts. We watched it from the front porch for awhile...until the winds whipped around and started swirling in our yard. It was like a hurricane!
There is a little shopping center near my home. Turns out, the storefront in the middle was heavily damaged. It is a new liquor store that hadn't opened yet.
Dang.
I didn't even know it was there yet!

Re: Storm damage
We got slammed around 6:30 and lost power for 6-7 hours straight, then again for another 2-3 hours. I've seen some storefront damage but mainly downed trees and debris. Freaking craziness.
That sucks about the storefront!
We were hanging out with some friends in Piedmont. We took all of the kids into the hallway because we were concerned about the possibility of tree branches breaking out a window and sending glass flying. The sound was pretty dang scary. The friend we were visiting lives in a duplex that had a brick wall about 4 1/2 feet tall running between the two buildings in front of the yard they share with the duplex next door, and the wind completely leveled the wall. There were a ton of emergency vehicles out and about and fences down and limbs everywhere in her neighborhood.
I just read that a man installing a security system at a new liquor store was injured when a wall collapsed. Sounds like it was probably the one near you. Hopefully the guy is OK!
Oh wow, I wonder! I do hope he's okay.
I was looking for Al Roker the whole time it was hurricane-ing at our house.
Yikes! Our fences are pretty well-protected from the wind...we don't even own a fence, it's all neighbors, so I hope we never have that happen.
Our power went off AGAIN for about three hours last night in that mess.
