Contacting an employer you forwarded your resume to
Good afternoon,
As I have no clue about job etiquette, I was hoping someone could help answer this question. I applied for a position with a company that had the contact person and their phone number on the posting. The company was listed and though I should have tried to research the company first, I did not and instead contacted the HR Manager that was listed. I asked her if I could send her my resume and she said yes.
Is it ok to call her back and ask if she received it? If not, is there any other way to go about it? I am very interested in the position and would love an interview with them.
Re: Contacting an employer you forwarded your resume to
I'm confused. The contact person was the HR manager? So you called and asked if you could send your resume?
I see no problem with following up to make sure she received it.

I guess I'm confused as well. Did you mail the resume or email it? Did you send a cover letter? Very few positions or companies will truly entertain a resume without a cover letter as an application. Did you follow the directions for how to apply or did you just call the HR manager?
In the future, I'd definitely follow the directions they put on the posting.
To not confuse you further, I will clarify. What I meant by I should have researched the company first, the job posting was on Career Builder. Though I could have applied through the site, I usually like to send directly to the company from my email. If I had googled the company website first, I would have saw that the posting was on their website as well and where to send it to. I had already contacted her first which was a little silly.
I wondering if that might have blew my chances.
I don't think you blew your changes. This makes perfect sense now, thank you.
Generally once I've sent a resume/cover letter, I wouldn't follow up. However, I would check linkedIn and see if you have additional contacts, etc. at the company who could put in a good word for you. But no need to follow up directly. She has your info, she'll call if they want to interview you.
Thanks Marcy
