Why does she do this?

Can babies sense stress?

A freaks the F out sometimes when H feeds her.

I feel like it may because he is stressing feeding her when she cries.

I just walked over and placed the bottle in her mouth w/ him holding her- she took it immediately.

I feel bad! H is getting wicked discourages...she does this to him a lot of nights! Can she want to only take bottles from me this early? Is that possible? How do I change it?

Re: Why does she do this?

  • Does he hold the bottle differently than you do? Maybe it doesn't feel natural to her. I would think if she only wanted you then she would only take it if you were holding her. But, babies do respond to stress/tension.

  • Margot is like this with Bryan! And I totally think it's because he's very uncomfortable and nervous doing it. As soon as I put the bottle in her mouth, she takes it. If my Mom gives her a bottle, she takes it. I feel bad for him because the few times I've needed him to give her a bottle, she won't take it and he gets pretty upset by it and tells me she just won't ever take a bottle from him. Then, I feel like it's a catch 22 because he then gets more nervous, etc. I truly feel like its an instincual thing. The way I think if it - would you take food from someone acting all nervous and stressed? It's a good thing for us that she takes it from the boob 99% of the time! Lol I really wish I could offer you more advice though! Our poor DH's :(

  • I can't help you with this but

this totally makes me think of that Step by Step episode from decades ago -- when Carol had the baby ( Lily, I think was her name ) and everytime Carol tried to feed the baby LIly would get hella fussy because Carol was stressed, but then every time Cody took Lily she was fine, because Cody was so relaxed and chilled.

  • Are you usually in the room when it happens? If so, try leaving the room. She might do better if mommy isn't an option ;)

Great point, Pam! She takes it from him if I am out I think. I will try that. And it's an excuse for mama to do something else :-)

    Kate- TOO funny!!!

I LOVED Cody (Sasha whatever his name was), I can't even begin to think about how many times I watched Kickboxer II to see him in it. Then he went on to become a wife beater and I was devastated....sigh...
