Sleep Apnea specialists?

Have you or any family members gone to see someone for treatment of sleep apnea?  I'm looking for recommendations or reviews -- I've been narrowing in on Froeber Dentistry and Mark Kleive but am open to other recommendations!  Not loving the CPAP idea, so someone who treats with a dental device would be ideal.  Thanks!

Re: Sleep Apnea specialists?

  • Ok, still looking around online:  I now realize that if I need a CPAP, then I need a CPAP and can't really get around it.  Has anyone gone through a sleep study or has any advice they can share?
  • I went to the HealthEast Sleep Clinic in Maplewood. The were very nice. The rooms were huge. Almost hotel like, rather than hospital like. You should be able to get a referral from your doctor too.

  • DH went to the Park Nicollet Sleep Clinic in St. Louis Park.  He said the nurses and techs were nice and the rooms were fine.  He never said they were hotel like, but you know how guys don't really pay attention to details like that.

I know he would strongly suggest not getting equipment and supplies through Lincare.  They are a PITA to deal with.  He brought his machine in to be repaired and they didn't do anything for 3 months, despite him calling them often - almost daily towards the 2nd month.  By the time they got around to it, the warranty had expired and they refused to fix it under the warranty. The repairs ended up being covered by the insurance company so I'm sure Lincare did it so they could get the money.  DH told the insurance company and let them fight over it.  Also, Lincare calls every 2 weeks to pester him about ordering supplies, even if he just ordered.

  • Fairview Sleep Center in Minneapolis.  You can self refer and they have the CPAP equipment on-site.  Nice rooms and staff.
