F*ck you for not updating your website for three months. I refuse to buy your g*ddamned book because now you look like a sellout. I fully expect that when you return to blogging, if ever, you'll end up going the way of Pioneer "Oh, Look At My Schmancy Book Tour and How Much I'm Adored" Woman.
Re: Dear Allie Brosh:
I'm uncultured.
I have no idea who you're talking about. lol!
I know. I'm annoyed.
She's my FB friend. Want me to pass along your message?
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
YES. From all of us.
YES. It's irritating. I get that she's working on a book, but damn. Way to lose your reader base in the meantime. It doesn't seem like very good practice to stop doing the thing that enabled you to have a book deal in the first place.
And I'm SUPER concerned that she's going to become Pioneer Woman, who is so insufferable these days I want to whack her over the head with treated reconstituted recycled barn door plywood and a sack of organic mung beans.
I love her teeth.
and I remember a time when dooce was awesome. and relateable. but it's been a loong while. it seems like blog have a shelf life, and it expires shortly after they become anything more than a blog.
I hate to make excuses, but Allie is a really good friend and I can tell you that she is working on more than her book, plus starting to plan her wedding and has been super busy. Coupled with the fact that she has severe ADD, I'm surprised she gets anything done at all.
It would be absolutely impossible for her to turn into an insufferable, "look at me" type person. She is still surprised that people even find her funny. Allie is a genuinely awesome person.
That said, I think it is incredibly dumb on her part to neglect her blog, even if she is busy.
I'm sure she's busy; but it seems anathema to a book's success to completely abandon for several months its reason for existing.
It's maddening that she couldn't even be bothered to post a "Hey, internet assh*les, I'm busy writing a book, stop bothering me" update, and makes me think she just doesn't give a sh!t about the blog, which in turn makes me sort of not give a sh!t about her book.
She did give a: "Hey, internet assh*les, I'm busy writing a book, stop bothering me"
Yeah, I was gonna say, i thought I saw a post along those lines. I know other bloggers have managed to post while working on a book, but she was never that frequent/consistent of a blogger, so I'm not surprised.
