How long has your place been on the market?

33 days.

Lots of traffic, no offers... Starting to get nervous since we aren't "new" anymore.

  • Don't be nervous.  :)  Our house was on the market exactly two months before we got an offer (we actually got two on the same day!).  Have you gotten any negative feedback?  Are you priced competitively?

  • ours in under contract after 40ish days however we only had one person come look at it twice. so no traffic just the right house/buyer
  • Approximately 9 weeks, 1 offer after 3 weeks that went nowhere. 30+ showings, all positive feedback except things we can't change. We've lowered the price 2x and just Friday was the last one. Already have several showings scheduled this week.

    Hoping for a quality offer soon!

  • We were on the market 36 days before we got an offer. I worried about not being a new listing as well, and our realtor suggested we lower our price - just a little bit - b/c it pushes your listing out to realtors again as an "updated" listing. We went from 127,000 to 125,000 and after we lowered we got the offer.

  • Our house has been on the market 2 months.  2 showings, no offers.  It stinks, but that's how it is.  We're thinking about lowering our price a little at this point to get more traffic.

  • What's the average number of days on the market for YOUR area? 

    Here, IA, it is not usual to see that homes have been on the market for 1+ years. Many new construction - med to high priced - have been on the market for 3 years!

    Our home in NJ was on the market for 4 months before going under contract. Our apartment in NYC was on the market for 2 weeks before going under contract.  

  • I don't like to think about it but will share! We've been on the market almost 5 months now. We just had our 2nd price drop which has brought in a lot more traffic. We went from 4 showings in 4 months to 6 showings in 2 weeks. We should have a 2nd showing for a buyer here soon.

  • 1 month, 1 well-visited REA open house the first weekend, 3 private showings, 1 neighbor open house this weekend with 2 groups of visitors.  We got 2 offers - one insane lowball and one full price minus closing costs that we accepted this weekend. 
  • 3 months. We got an offer 3 weeks in which we turned down and two more last week. We accepted on Friday and signed the agreement of sale Sunday. We had a large amount of traffic the first few weeks and then were averaging about 1 showing per week and had two second showings.

  • 50 days. Only 3 viewings. No Showings last month. It's priced well according to everyone. Market just sucks where I am .

  • We were on for 6.5 months before we recieved our offer. We had two price drops in that time.  That's pretty typical in our market and what our price range was. Our old house had some unique features/layout that weren't good for a lot of people who came through (especially those with multiple or small children).   The house we purchased had been on for just over a month when we put in our offer.  It was quite a fixer-upper and we purchased it for less than 80% of asking.

  • More than 6 months. Our 6-month contract with our first realtor expired 8/1. We relisted with a new realtor last Friday, 8/5.

    I've lost track of how many showings and open houses. I think we've dropped the price four times now. Hoping something happens soon, or we will be renting it out instead of selling.

  • DH and I haven't sold a house but the one we bought was on for 1 day.  Got listed on a Saturday morning, we saw it in the afternoon and the sellers accepted our offer that night (full price with no closing).... the next day they then got 5 more offers but it was too late. 
  • Ugh. 14 longass months.

    As much as this sucks it isn't uncommon for the area. The economy is horrible and it is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. It isn't uncommon for houses to be on the market for several years. We are crossing our fingers it will sell before fall comes but there are several foreclosures around us that are priced so low we can't compete. Hopefully once those clear out we will have a chance.

  • We are in the DC area, which is actually doing really well right now. I think that we are competitively priced, as our neighbors (condo with identical layout and 2 garage parking spaces) sold for over what we are asking in May.

  • I understand that feeling of being afraid of not being "new."

    We had one offer after 30 days that we turned down and then we had nothing for a long time after that. 

    We eventually got another offer about after about 100 days (which was similar to the first offer we declined) and closed after 120 days (ish).

    I don't know if that's super encouraging or not, but it is possible to sell after the "newness" wears off :) It just takes that ONE buyer.

  • Looks like I'm the winner (or loser!) -- 16 months and we haven't had a showing since NOVEMBER! The market sucks, we live in an inner city (not the best area, hence us trying to leave), and we can't lower our price anymore.

    The only thing keeping us on the market is pure laziness. With 3 kids -- one being an infant-- I haven't gotten around to telling our realtor to take it off. We know it isn't going to sell &we've pretty much given up!

    Yep, that's it's exactly what it's like for us too. Small towns in the middle of nowhere suck for real estate...LOL.
