Facebook status (probably a stupid C&P thing):
It doesn't surprise me that's its incredibly difficult to find the ingredients to vaccinations that children are required to have. The side effects of the formaldehyde, aluminum, mercury and aborted fetal tissue children are injected with include but are not limited to fever, chills, nausea, "feelings of discomfort," tenderness, redness, swelling and vomiting.
(someone's response) Just another way for the health insurance companies to keep raking it in throughout our lives. "Preventative care" needs to start with education about diet, not injections.
The lack of knowledge about vaccines and scare tactics to get people to stop getting them makes me so mad.
a) it's ALUM, not aluminum - absolutely safe and serves an important purpose in making the vaccines more effective
b) aborted fetal tissue = eggs, which you each all the time
c) formaldehyde is not in all vaccines and I think it's not in ones given to children (I could do more research on this if pp want)
d) the list of 'side-effects' are your IMMUNE SYSTEM being activated so it will PROTECT YOU from a future exposure! Those are healthy symptoms of an immune response. Yes, with children it's good to monitor and make sure it doesn't get out of hand, but your body is built to do this.
Bottom line: vaccines have saved millions of lives and eradicated serious diseases. People like to just jump all over them and associate them with other childhood diseases without actual proof. I know things in them can sounds 'scary' but it's stupid to think scientists/doctors/insurance companies are just out to get people! Why would we do that?! It makes no sense. People also take for granted that they don't have 6 out of 10 children die because of medical advances. Yes, things can always improve, but just telling everyone to stop getting vaccinations is not a good idea.

yeah, I know there's a lot of emotions around autism vs. vaccines, but I really think the only reason people ever linked it was because of the timing. Scientists do that a lot actually because that's how we come up with hypothesis "I always see a red car drive down my street after a blue car, I'll develop ways to test why this happens." The answer could be that red cars always drive after blue cars and therefore if the blue cars stopped driving you would never see red cars. However, it could also just be on that one street because those two neighbors always leave their homes in that order and it can't be extrapolated to mean anything else about all the other red and blue cars in the world. And if one person really wanted their theory to be true, they start just believing it and manipulating data so they wouldn't be wrong. There's an obvious reason why the connection was made, but thus far it hasn't been proven.
I just cannot logically see how the two are related. I really hope they can figure out what causes autism and I never think you should cut off any avenues of research, but I think people need to think logically and realize how dangerous it would be to stop vaccinating altogether.

I remember that, but I'm still not convinced.... My brother was born in 1988, and rates of autism have been increasing and increasing. I think the cause is a mix of genes, something in our environment, and vaccines triggering something, I have no proof, but that belief is something that helps in "accepting" the autism.

I understand the value of vaccines. When we have kids, we will vaccinate, but not on the conventional schedule. The practice of administering multiple vaccines at once (such as these 6 injections of 8 vaccines administered at 2 months: HepB booster, rotovirus, diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus, H. influenza, pneumococcus and polio) makes me really nervous. Besides the timing between doses of vaccines, in most cases there is no reason to administer so many vaccines at once, or so early.
And while our bodies generally react desirably to vaccines, our bodies are not "designed" to be exposed to and successfully combat that many antigens at once (especially infants), not to mention the chemical components (preservative, etc.) of the vaccines.
As far as i'm concerned, it is responsible parenting to be informed about the risks of all medical interventions, vaccines included. Despite this, people are ostracized for acknowledging that risk. It baffles me that there is so much information about vaccines and options regarding their administration, yet that information is (or is perceived to be, and as a result, is) inaccessible and unknown to the general public (and to pediatricians, for that matter).

The thing is, there is NO scientific proof of a link between autism and vaccines. However, thanks to absolute ding-bats like Jenny McCarthy out there touting it everywhere, we're seeing a rise in highly PREVENTABLE diseases like pertussis (whooping cough). It's ridiculous.
IMHO, part of the rise of autism is in LARGE part due to the creation of the spectrum (whereas it used to be yes or no) and greater awareness of it's symptoms which leads to more diagnoses. If you didn't know much about something, chances are you wouldn't diagnose it. Therefore, more awareness and better education leads to more diagnoses.
I also agree with this. In general I don't think people acknowledged or bother differentiating between "mental illnesses" - just lumped it all together or called people 'weird' (unfortunately I can totally see my grandparents/their generation saying this kind of thing). I also agree that a lot has changed in the way we live and things we are exposed to, so the incidence could also be increasing too. Of all the things that kids are exposed to though, vaccines are necessary.
I also agree that the schedule of vaccines has changed and I don't think there's anything wrong with choosing to spread them out. However, we are all exposed to millions of antigens (harmless and harmful) a day, so technically your immune system is always responding to things
But I agree that it is a manipulation of the system and should be handled carefully.
