It's my first day back at work. I was doing well for the first 5 hours, but I'm starting to lose it and need a distraction. So tell me about your weekend!
I'm no fun, really... we spent the whole weekend working on stuff around the house, and getting me ready to go back to work today. DH is watching DS today because the daycare is closed for VJ day. I miss working at a place that followed the state's holiday schedule.
Re: How was your weekend?
I mowed the lawn on Saturday because DH's back was acting up on him. A section in the back had grown so thick that it stalled the mower, and I had to go in and weed whack the rest of it. I walked back into the house to a chorus of "Thank you, Mom!" from Shannon and DH!
Church on Sunday morning was anything but ordinary. Kyle started fussing, so I walked back to the rear of the church so as to not disturb the other people's worship. I normally go down the side aisle when I have to excuse myself, but I opted to go down the center aisle. I noticed a woman looked a little off toward the back, and I kept an eye on her from the vestibule until Kyle quieted down enough for me to rejoin the congregation and my family. It was hot in the church, and towards the end of mass, a woman called out "911! Emergency! Someone call 911!" I glanced back, and saw that same woman who I'd noticed earlier slumped over in a rear pew. I pulled out my cell phone and called, only to have a dispatcher tell me that several others had already called (apparently 5-10 people called, including the deacon who had forgotten to turn off his portable mike and his side of the 911 call was broadcast over the loudspeakers) and an ambulance was on its way. Seems she had fainted from heat exhaustion. The medics didn't immediately remove her from the church, so I'm assuming that she's going to be just fine.
Later on Sunday, I brought my kids (in the RAIN!) to camp's annual clambake and field day. I managed to completely avoid confrontation with the nincompoop from last year (recap from last year: he commented that Kyle looked just like me, and that DH should get a paternity test, "you know, because he looks NOTHING like him!" insinuating that I was unfaithful, and that my baby was the result of an extramarital affair. I didn't stick around long after that. This same man has had nothing but insults to say to me since I was about 15, but last year he made it truly personal and hurtful by bringing my child into his pettiness, and for that, I refused to forgive him). Since he didn't see me (thank you short haircut for making me apparently incognito!) I didn't have to put up with his ignorance and insults for the 16th year in a row. But, my sister told me that he stopped her the day before and indicated that he was hoping to apologize to me this year. I'm impressed and surprised, but I was NOT in the mood to willingly put myself in any situation where a face-to-face with this man would have happened. I'll still avoid him at all costs, and I think I'll keep my hair short at least until after the 75th Anniversary festivities for the camp are done, so I can enjoy a bit more time unrecognized by this idiot.
Aw, Amy! I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering when you started. *hugs*
How did the pumping situation go? How was dropping Ty off today? I hope he does well there today! Thinking of you and hoping you're doing okay!
The weekend was great! I went to my parents' Friday for our ritual fish-and-chips. April rolled over for the first time while we were there!!
Then I brought her to visit Rob at work since his coworkers were bugging him.
Saturday we went to Cumberlandfest with friends and it was such a blast! I hadn't been since I was in high school and it was so fun to go with my friend's kids. April did awesome. We forgot the diaper bag I so lovingly packed.
But I wore her in the pack and it didn't get cold. Thank goodness for cloth diapers, because she was in the same one for a while! Bad mama, I know.
Sunday wasn't much with the weather. Just chillin'.

Pumping situation is... not ideal, but hopefully doable. I pump while driving, and on my lunchbreak. Yesterday I ended up pumping in my car during lunch, but that's not really a good long-term solution. The best facility I know of so far here in the nurse's exam room, if it's free, so I hope to try that out today. I think I'm going to push for a dedicated room somewhere, though, because if the nurses are using the exam room, or if there is more than 1 person needing to pump, I'll have no where to go but my car. With 3000+ people, I can't be the only BFing mom that wants to pump at lunch.
I was trying not to cry, but I didn't make it. I did avoid blubbering, though! It helped that he was the first baby in, so it was 1 caregiver all to himself while he got acclimated. He seemed content as we watched through the windows for a few minutes before leaving. It was much harder to leave him at daycare than at home with Sean, and I wasn't expecting it to affect me quite this much. Can't wait for the weekend!
