We went to playgroup today and I got Monk in a game of rolling the ball up and down a ramp back and forth. He was engaging with me, signing with me for more, laughing and having a good time, and our playgroup person commented on how well I do with giving him enough time to process what I ask him or tell him without losing him and having to reestablish the contact again. She said that I had great timing and allowed just enough time for him to process and respond but not so much that he just gives up...and that that was one of her weaknesses. It made me feel awesome that I am really progressing and we are seeing changes in him, and made me espcially happy that someone recognized and complemented me on my skills playing and interacting with my son.
Sometimes I feel like I am all by myself doing this, and even though I know its not true, and that we have a lot of support, it can feel daunting to do day in and day out. Its nice to get praise every once in a while.
