starting on a new board
if you go to another board, do you introduce yourself? or just start posting?
i really enjoy one of the main boards to the left of the screen.. the girls are ridic and i have a lot of fun reading. i never really see people introducing themselves but i don't want to just post and run either.. or post and get flamed for having an opinion when i'm a newbie to that board.. nothing worse than a new person giving 'advice' on something that they know NOTHING about.. lol.

This is totally ridiculous that I have a 'theory' about this, lol, but I do. My general observation is that you can slowly start posting (don't start off with something controversial immediately) and then the 'regulars' get used to you around and you can get bolder. Plenty of them don't get along, so it's not like everyone has to like you, but I know they don't take it well if you come in with guns blazing (reminds me of some random poster on this board... *cough*catbus*cough*). This, btw, is mainly for the 'big' boards where there's lots of hysterical posts about crazy stuff.
Boards like F&B, just start posting! I think some of the other boards like WC and Crafts, people do introductions and "AW" stuff and everyone is really nice (usually) and everything is lighthearted. Ok, those are my thoughts
ETA: I forgot to add that on ML, if you're very witty/sarcastic etc. they will like you immediately (ML reminds me of P&E). They aren't opposed to people doing intros, but I saw people comment about how it's weird when people do intros and then they never see them again (like they tried to make a big entrance, and then there was no point because they didn't stick around).

one of the boards you mentioned might be the one i'm thinking of.. i'm not sure if i'm 'good' enough for the board but i'll think of it. i don't wanna be bronze anymore.. but seattle isn't poppin enough to get my posts up high enough!

aww, thank you! to the second part.. about the first part- i love you guys because you'll actually entertain my randomness... that is why seattle is best. i just wish we didn't have jobs (but were rich) and could post all day long without anything to do. I'd die to have 20k posts. I don't even understand that. I'd have to be here for 10 years. I'm not saying I won't... but who knows. lol.
i had 10k posts before stupid TK took them away. i'm still angry about that. i had only posted for a little over a year at that time (i need a life).

oh and thank you for the 'softies' post - I did finally show H (kept debating and then just did it) and now we're both laughing about it. Plus, I could add to the other name post that I now refer to it as "softy" lol
