Speaking of work... how much are you actually working? Is is going okay?

Re: Marcy

  • That is AWESOME. It would have been mine, had I seen it first.

Well, I worked from 11-2 today with my MIL here. In the morning I did a little bit of work, but Piper was fussy, so I had to type emails while wearing her in the Ergo.

MIL left around 2, I pumped, fed Piper, and ate. Now she's FINALLY napping, so I'm getting some more emails and pipeline clean up done.

She was Fussy McFussterpants today, so I would not have been able to get anything done with her here.

4 week check up tonight, and I hope they amputate my right boob. I have a secondary infection and it hurts like bloody hell.

Are you planning on working from home with Piper for a few weeks? Or will your MIL be coming over to help out? I'll be WFH for 3 wks with Emily and I'm not sure how it will go. Especially during her fussy afternoons!

  • Well, it sounds like you are easing back in, which is good. I was afraid of you working 12 hour days already. ;) How was Piper's appt? And how's your boob? What can help it, meds?
  • My boob is apparently extremely sick. We suspect it's an abscess, so tomorrow I have an ultrasound at 11:40 and then we either drain it or surgically remove the tissue.

In most cases they'll drain it, and see if it comes back. If it comes back more than once, then they'll schedule the surgery to remove it.

At least they upped my prescription from ibuprofen to percocet.

I need to keep pumping until we figure out what to do with the abscess, I'm scared to death to wean due to the engorgement which I feel would cause the abscess to reoccur.

What a nightmare! Hope it's best-case scenario! And Miss Piper, how'd she do? Gain more weight?

No appointment for her until next week I think. Her clothes are fitting better, so I'm pretty positive she's gaining weight appropriately now.

Oh, duh. It was your 4 week check up, not hers. How's the c section recovery? And glad P is filling out her clothes!

The c/s was a piece of cake, all restrictions were lifted yesterday other than lifting anything over 35lbs.

I'm having some mild body image issues, but I'm sure that's to be expected, and with a 40-50lb pregnancy (I stopped looking at the scale), I still have 20lbs to go and would love to start working out. I just can't do anything until this boob thing gets taken care of. The thought of a bouncing chest while I'm out jogging puts the fear of God into me.

Piper has been slightly needy/fussy for the past 24 hours. I was hoping she'd pass out this morning and give me a reprieve for a nap or to get some things done this morning, but the minute I stop rocking the rock n play with my big toe, she stirs. At least I can sit here and send emails.

Something's up with my brother and my mom. My brother called me last night to discuss it, but when I said I was spending the day with my mom today, he decided to not ruin my day and to tell me tonight. Part of me is relieved to not be involved, and part of me is super sad. From my slightly removed perspective, life with my mom has been wonderful lately. Our relationship is light years ahead of where we were two years ago. My brother would NEVER call me and say something like he did last night if it wasn't a pretty big deal, we just don't have that relationship. He and my dad are going golfing to "talk" this afternoon (that has NEVER happened, they don't have talks like that), so I know it's a big deal. I'm really bummed about this and would prefer to keep an ignorance is bliss stance. The anticipation is depressing. I'm just going to try my hardest to really enjoy my time with her today because I'm not sure what tonight is going to bring. My brother said that if he had told me, I would not have been able to bite my tongue today, and he really wants to speak to my dad first.

Who the hell knows that that means...

Sigh...just when you think things are a million times better.

I hope he's blowing things out of proportion, or that I can keep out of it.

  • I definitely still have body image issues... probably bc my pre-pg clothes don't fit, lol. Although I hear you hang on to some extra weight while BFing so I'm hoping that's it. ;) And once I stop using my lunch break to BF, I'll use it to work out so that should help, too. And it's not like I was skinny before or anything, I've always had to struggle to (try to!) keep my weight in check. I'm sure you'll be fine once you get back to running.

Uh oh, hope everything is okay with the family! Try not to let it ruin your day with your mom!
